ECS Gala 2025

Dear Christ Church New Brunswick,

On behalf of Episcopal Community Services of the Diocese of New Jersey, thank you for joining us at the 2025 ECS-NJ Gala on September 18th at Pines Manor. What an extraordinary evening of inspiration, fellowship, and compassion!

With more than 150 guests gathered, we celebrated the remarkable ministries of St. George’s by the River Church, Canon Clara Gregory, and Catherine Ambos, whose faithful service in the community inspires us all. We were deeply honored by the presence of The Rt. Rev. Sally French, Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey, who presented the Gospel Justice Award to our honorees. A heartfelt video greeting from Presiding Bishop, The Most Rev. Sean W. Rowe, and a moving photo montage of congregations across our Diocese enriched the evening in a truly memorable way.

Searching for a Search Committee!

Now that we have secured a presiding priest for the next few months, we are in the process of forming the Search Committee which will be responsible for creating the parish profile and leading the search for a new Rector. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the Google form located in the weekly email. If you have difficulty with google forms but would like to be considered, please speak to Meegan Adames, Jonathan Gloster or Mark McMahon. Thank you for your consideration of this important leadership and volunteer opportunity!

Stay NJ program, a new initiative introduced by the State of New Jersey to provide meaningful and real property tax relief for senior homeowners. Beginning in 2026, eligible residents aged 65 and older may receive a reimbursement of up to 50% off their property tax bill, with a maximum annual benefit of $6,500. To qualify, homeowners must have owned and occupied their primary residence in New Jersey for the entire calendar year of 2024 and have an annual income of $500,000 or less. If you are under the age of 65, but are receiving Federal Social Security Disability, you will also be able to qualify for the Stay NJ program. Please note that mobile homeowners are not eligible for this particular program.

Vestry Corner:

Key Topics from the

September 2025

Vestry Meeting

1. The vestry approved a Mission Statement Update process to start soon! Look for opportunities to participate in shaping a new mission statement that will help guide us into the Fourth Century! This work will also support our upcoming development of a Parish Profile and our discernment around our path moving forward.

2. We reviewed the exciting work being done by the Stewardship Committee and encourage all members to attend cottage meetings in the next few weeks. As part of our efforts to promote sensible Stewardship of our resources, we voted to pledge about $60,000 towards our Marks of Mission contribution to the diocese. This is a decrease from this year while still meeting about 80% of our asking.

3. Jonathan Clark shared updates from the various Discipleship Ministries, many of which continue to function smoothly. He and Daphne will meet soon to plan the discipleship offering for Advent. Look for updates in future weeks! We encourage all parishioners to participate in one or more discipleship endeavors, especially in this time of transition and discernment

Minutes of the July 2025 meeting can be found HERE.

Christ Church member, Anna Rose Gable, held a discussion of challenges facing Christ Church's undocumented neighbors. Click the button below to learn about various ways to get involved in efforts to provide relief.

The Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM) and the Office of Government Relations (OGR) have launched a new Immigration Action Toolkit page on the Episcopal Church website.

This toolkit consolidates a wide range of resources in one place, making it a go-to destination for immigration information. While some resources focus on the Episcopal Church's response to the current situation, it also includes helpful links on topics like Family Preparedness and Know Your Rights, which are valuable to people of all faiths or none at all.

To stay updated on this ever-evolving issue and hear from knowledgeable

experts, a 30-minute weekly webinar is available. You can register here.

Join St. Alban’s online each Thursday evening from 7pm- 8pm for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. St. Alban’s has encouraged the wider community to join us and many of the attendees come from different congregations locally as well as internationally.

We invite people to testify if they are prayerfully led and also encourage them to send their prayer requests in advance if they wish. Some attendees come prepared from time to time to not only testify, but to give a word of encouragement.
