AN EPIPHANY CELEBRATION AFTER CHURCH THIS SUNDAY ! Please join us for an Epiphany Celebration for All Ages. Come on a flashlight walk through the darkened church on Epiphany, January 6th, from 11:45 to 12:15, right after the service.

Led by three Wise Ones, we'll bring light to all corners of the church.

We'll start in Bates Hall with a special cake that has 3 beans inside. Whoever gets a piece of cake with a bean in it becomes a Wise One and helps guide us on our walk.

Epiphany is a very special day in Latin America and in our sister community in Dulce Nombre de Jesus, Nicaragua.

WELCOME TO CHURCH OF THE COVENANT:
We are delighted to welcome you to our community of faith! If you are new to our community, we hope you will feel at home and welcomed during Sunday's service. If you would like to get to know us better, please fill out a visitor's card found in your pew. Every third Sunday of the month, following worship, we hold a potluck lunch downstairs in Bates Hall where longtime-members and first-time visitors alike can meet one another and deepen our friendships and community. Our next potluck is Sunday, January 20 and all are heartily invited to attend!

FREE ORGANIC FAIR TRADE COFFEEEvery Sunday! Yes, join us down in Bates Hall, before and after worship, for a free cup of coffee and conversation (or just the coffee if you'd prefer : ) - there is always something good brewing at COTC...

FROM PARISH PASTOR TO COLLEGE CHAPLAIN, A TRANSITION IN OUR COMMUNITYWe've recently shared the news that Rev. Julie Avis Rogers will be ending her time at Covenant as she has accepted the position of Director of Religious and Spiritual Life and Campus Chaplain at Emerson College. We will recognize her final Sunday with us on Sunday, January 13. Julie recently shared a letter in the January Covenant News about the process of pastoral transitions. If you did not see this letter,

20-30s GROUP AT COVENANT: We have an active young adult group that meets regularly to share meals, visit sites around New England, and discuss how our faith motivates and guides us to live through this unique life stage. Our next event together will be a potluck at Melissa Morgan's house on Saturday, January 12. If you'd like to join us, or be added to the email listserv, email Rev. Julie at rev.julieavisrogers@gmail.com.

ANNUAL REPORT DEADLINE AND UPCOMING ANNUAL MEETING: Our Annual Meeting will be held Sunday, February 3, 2019 after church. The deadline for submitting annual reports to the church office at info@cotcbos.org is Monday, January 7, 2019.

A COMMUNITY CONVERSATION: THE POWER OF PUBLIC MONUMENTS AND WHY THEY MATTER: Our own Liz Vizza and the Friends of the Public Garden invite us to join in this important evening at the Tremont Temple Baptist Church on January 9th from 6:30- 8:30 pm which includes a dynamic roster of speakers with the hope that this conversation will deepen the community's dialogue about race, freedom, and justice and raise awareness of the significance of memorials and the stories they tell.  More information can be found by clicking

Upcoming Events

EXCITING UPDATES FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIESA new year is in full-swing with new and inspiring opportunities for children of all ages to grow in faith and community. Our nursery continues to be open and staffed from 9:15 am - 1:00 pm each Sunday. In addition, there are two classes for kids each Sunday (each begins at 10:30 am with a circle time for all ages):

*      Godly Play for children ages 3-9: A multi-sensory, Montessori based curriculum focused on Bible stories and children's spirituality.
*      Youth classes for children ages 10-13: A class that engages a monthly focus-scripture and includes opportunities for service, art, and worship around the focus scripture.

EVENT SEXTONS AND OPEN SANCTUARY HOSTS NEEDED:  Church of the Covenant looking to expand our team of  Open   Sanctuary  hosts and Event Sextons. Both hosts and sextons are so important in helping us make Covenant a welcoming place for the wider community. OS hosts staff our  Open   Sanctuary  program that opens our building to the public, welcoming visitors and telling them about our building. Event sextons work with outside groups holding events here,  opening  and locking up the building, assisting with set-up (must be able to lift/carry moderately heavy objects), and making sure that events run smoothly. If you think you or someone you know would be a good fit for either of these positions, please email Bill Brown at bill.brown@cotcbos.org to set up an interview! Please note that these are both paid positions.

UPCOMING SERVICES AT COVENANT:
January 13 - Liturgy of Farewell and Reception in honor of Rev. Julie's last Sunday
