Loving Others-
Means Helping, Caring & Listening
People in our community need someone who is willing to respond to their needs and willing to get involved! Ekklesia people are a group of "Jesus followers" who want to tangibly make a difference in others' lives. We want to help by literally becoming a safety net for people who are struggling with life. It is more than just a hand out. We truly want to invite those in need into our family and be loved and treated as valuable. We are willing to open our homes for meals and for warmth. We are willing to go to the homes and locations of the most needy and to provide support where it is needed. This is more than a program. We offer relationship and a community of people open to those we have just met. Anyone who sees this relationship and community as valuable is the one God calls us to love.
  • So.... we will respond when a homeless person comes to one of our gatherings or house church meetings during the week. We provide needed sleeping bags, bed roles, clean socks and other items as requested.
  • We collect these items at the restaurant "That One Place" where they are distributed as needed to Georgia's House Women's Shelter or to other people in need as their request becomes known.
  • We often receive requests for help from the South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank. Their social services worker, Diane,  may call us with a referral for a local resident in need. We also receive requests of assistance from the food bank's board chairman, Ron Weeks, whenever he has a special project or need; like the construction of the new storage building and the need to pick up four cords of firewood donated to the food bank. (request came in this week!)
  • We have received a call from KCR (Kitsap Community Resources) to assist a single lady with electrical breaker problems that prohibited her furnace from starting.
Ekklesia is a family of volunteers who are very willing to give themselves to those in need and we only need an invitation. This is how the church makes a difference in the community. This is what worshipping Jesus is all about. Loving the least of these in our community....is loving Jesus!
Sharing Food and Toys
Helpline Food & Toy Distribution
Dec. 21st and 22nd
This year the Food Bank will again provide food and presents for over a thousand family units. The Helpline Food Bank directs all their clients to the armory on Mile Hill to pick up their food baskets on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 21st and 22nd. Those families with children who have signed up will also have an opportunity to receive some age appropriate presents. Volunteers will again be needed for both days to help with the food and presents. All adults will again be required to fill out a background check if they haven't already done so. The background check document may be picked up at the food bank. Tim Blair will also pass out copies of the document on Sunday morning. Volunteers may also go on the SK Helpline web site and fill out the Volunteer document which will also do a background check. Let's help with this significant project that serves so many Port Orchard residents!

Christmas Gathering & Celebration
On Sunday, December 20th, Ekklesia will have a special Christmas brunch and worship gathering. The children and youth will be leading the worship and sharing a presentation about Jesus! We will again be setting up tables for all to enjoy. The morning gathering will be filled with lots of food and sharing the Christmas spirit about Jesus.

The air is colder and days have been very wet! This has not slowed the pace of need in our community. As we near the Christmas break may your days be filled with love that flows out into the lives of others. Thank you to all our supporters who have dedicated themselves to blessing our work here in Port Orchard.
