“Centering, Calling, and Mission” – The Rev. Doug Wadkins
How we understand our center as individuals and as a community makes such a difference in how we live. As we prepare to finish our exploration of finding our center, this service will help us discern more about how our core may inspire us in living our life’s purpose and its relationship to understanding a larger sense of purpose as a congregation.
Featured musicians: Eliot Chapel Choir; David Nalesnik, piano.

Large-print orders of service and hearing assistance devices are available from the greeters on Sunday. We livestream our service; find it at eliotchapel.org. After the stream, a recording will be available there all week. You can also find it directly on our YouTube channel.
If you're worshipping with us on livestream, you can always find a digital order of service, including lyrics to the hymns, on our website.
At Eliot Chapel, we follow CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19. When St. Louis County is at a Red Level or High Level, we will:
- Wear a mask indoors in public. Everyone over two years of age is required to wear a surgical mask, KN95 mask, or N95 mask. We have masks available. Masks must cover nose and mouth.
- Stay up to date on COVID vaccines.
- Get tested if you have symptoms.
- Refrain from serving food or drink at Eliot.
- Explore additional precautions for people at high risk for severe illness.
You may access the policy document on Eliot Chapel's website to read more of the details.

Sharing the Offering
Recently, great swathes of California were underwater. The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Monterey Peninsula, a region that experienced significant flooding, sustained damage to their building from uprooted trees. We hold all those impacted in love and prayer.
Our UUA Disaster Relief Fund is part of a covenant between the UUA and congregations, between congregations who give generously and those in need, and with our community partners. Through aiding our congregations, their members and their community partners, we are able to embody our faith and values.
This Sunday, we will share our collection with the UUA Disaster Relief Fund. The Fund disburses grants to UU congregations and recognized UU non-profit entities. Our donation through this collection allows the UUA to respond flexibly to current disaster needs as well as to new emergency situations as they arise.
Let us be a generous people. You can give in one of three ways:

Zoom Coffee Hour
Zoom Coffee Hour takes place at 12:30 pm on Sunday. You are invited to "walk down the hall" and come to our Zoom Coffee Hour! We'll take a few minutes to say hello and let people settle in, then we'll say a few words of welcome and briefly review the service that day. We typically really enjoy the wisdom story and discuss how that story reflects on the theme of the sermon. Then we'll create breakout rooms of 5-6 people for conversation and sharing. We love making new friends and the small groups are great for that! In approximately 45 minutes, everyone will return to the big group and we'll say our goodbyes for the week. We usually end shortly after 1:30 pm, but those who wish to can stay a few minutes longer. Please watch your email for "Eliot on Zoom" on Sunday morning which will include a link to join the Zoom Coffee Hour. If you're not on our mailing list, sign up here. We look forward to seeing you!

Both/And Thinking in an Either/Or World
A leadership and social event for all Eliot members and friends
Join us for BOTH bagels AND coffee as we explore ways to approach opportunities and challenges – both within Eliot and in the greater world – in a way that considers multiple solutions (both/and) rather than just one (either/or). Led by Eliot’s own Steve Mennerick, you will learn how both/and approaches accommodate multiple voices and opinions and open up more possibilities than either/or approaches, and can be very beneficial in our complex world.
This event will take place Saturday, March 4 in Adams Hall and is hosted by the Nominating Committee. Join us from 9:00-10:00 for refreshments and socializing and stay for the program from 10:00-noon.

Eliot Needs YOU!
The Canvass Committee is looking for 25 people to host a “Giving Gathering” for 10 or more people between March 5 and April 15. The event can be anything you can dream up: a family movie night in Adams Hall, a hike, a potluck, a coffee, a knitting circle, wine at five, bridge, board games, and more! This is a chance to reconnect with Eliot friends (old and new) outside of church and to sign our pledge cards.
We need at least 20 hosts to sign up by January 31 – join in the fun! If you are willing to be a host, contact Sue Blandford or Mary Quinn at givinggatherings@eliotchapel.org or sign up in Adams Hall after church on Sunday.

Tanya Hull
I discovered Eliot around twenty years ago, and finally engaged with Bergfried a few years ago, and with Eliot Chapel proper mostly in the past year, though I had started to right as COVID struck. Currently, I’ve been a greeter on Sundays. Although most of my extended family is on the coasts, in the St. Louis area I have one spouse, two kids, and three pets, plus my mom, an aunt, and my sister and some of her kids. My youngest child attends RE.

Who Represents You?
Who is your Missouri state Senator and Representative?
Look them up with these websites:
On Sunday we learned that many people know their US Senators (Hawley and Schmitt) and Representatives (Cori Bush or Ann Wagner), but few know their state legislators. Please look them up and keep their addresses handy. There are over 30 Representatives serving the St. Louis City and St. Louis County area, so we cannot keep a list for you.
The Social Justice in Action team will be hosting many Write Here! Write Now! events this Spring. If you did not get a postcard to write this past Sunday, please stop by this coming Sunday and pick one up. We will have a larger supply this week.

2022 Contribution Statements
2022 Contribution Statements were emailed via Realm this week to those who have given contributions of $250 or more to Eliot Chapel between January 1 and December 31, 2022. You will receive an email with a link taking you directly to your 2021 Contribution Statement.
If you contributed less than $250 last year and would like a Contribution Statement, you may email Camille Novak at admin@eliotchapel.org and request a statement, or print your own statement in your Realm profile.
|
|
Find your Contribution Statement on the right side of your profile. Click the blue "Save" button (see above), type a title or comment of your choosing in the next window, click "Print" and a statement will appear. You may then download the statement and print according to your computer's normal printing directions.

Eliot's COVID Measures
St. Louis County's transmission levels for COVID-19 remain in the high category.
When you are at Eliot, whether for a service, a meeting, or some other event, plan to wear a mask. If you forget yours or do not have one, we will have them available. We also will curtail coffee after service and restrict the serving of any food at Eliot activities until the COVID level drops. Sunday's Coffee Hour will be a Social Hour until the levels drop.
If you test positive after attending an event at Eliot, please let the Front Office know.
