Healing Our Divisions, Together – Rev. Krista Taves

Some of us are celebrating, some are grieving, and some are just grateful the yard signs are coming down. All of it belongs in this room. Come mourn the losses, cheer the wins, and mend what got frayed. We may not agree on everything, but we still share a pew.

Featured Musicians: Children's Chalice Choir; Light the Way.

The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Campaign for the Dunlap-Nutt Fund Is Live!

As the cost of living continues to rise, we invite you to continue your generous support for families in need. Stop by the Immigration Justice Team table in Adams Hall during coffee hour to learn about their progress and future plans, and find out how you can help!

Starting Point is a four-part series offering those considering Unitarian Universalism as a spiritual path the opportunity to experience UUism through a small group experience.

Registration is now open.

We continue our new series in which our members and friends will hear from the ministers and staff. Look forward to news, background on current subjects, musings, invitations to dialogue, and more! This week, we hear from India Braddock.

The Ministry of the Spreadsheet

When I tell people my new title, Director of Business Administration, I can watch their eyes politely glaze over. Administration doesn’t sound like ministry. But four weeks into this job, I’ve come to think it might be one of the quietest forms of it.

Every pledge that arrives in the offertory is a promise someone made to this community. My job is to be a steward of those promises to make sure the resources this congregation entrusts to Eliot are handled with the same care and intention as the mission they were given for.

I come to this work from the small business world. I co-founded and ran operations for a small company, managed properties, and for the past three years I’ve volunteered as a mentor with SCORE, coaching local entrepreneurs and through all of this I have learned that unglamorous systems are what allow good work to survive.

My door is open. If you’re a committee chair wondering about budget, a volunteer with an idea for doing something more efficiently, or someone who just wants to explain how a beloved Eliot tradition actually runs – I want to hear it. The business of this chapel is, in the end, the business of all of us.

With gratitude for your warm welcome,

India Braddock

Director of Business Administration

Christmas Eve Nursery Volunteers Needed

When possible, Eliot strives to offer nursery care for the youngest UUs who need freedom of movement during the early Christmas Eve service at 5:00 pm. Volunteer caregivers will open the nursery 30 minutes prior to service, care for young children, most of whom will be aged four and younger, and stay until all children are picked up after the service.

Dee at assistant-minister@eliotchapel.org.

Who’s Sitting at Your

Thanksgiving Table?

Attitudinal Healing Monthly Saturday Gathering

November 14, 2026, 10:00 am to Noon, Adams Hall

As the holidays approach, social and family gatherings can find us slipping into old stories, familiar roles, and expectations about how things should be. Before we know it, we've placed our happiness and peace in the hands of others – and forgotten that we have another choice.

At our November gathering, we'll revisit the inner posture framework from October's workshop and explore how we can bring greater awareness to our holiday experiences. Join us as we practice keeping love as our compass – at Thanksgiving and beyond! Please RSVP to attitudinalhealing@eliotchapel.org to let us know you plan to attend. Open to all adults, no fee.

Weather Policy Reminder

In the event the decision is made to close Eliot and cancel events due to inclement weather, the recording on the Chapel voicemail system will be changed and a notice will be posted on the home page of the website, as well as on the church and Eliot Chapel UUers group Facebook page and other social media. In extreme weather conditions, members, visitors, and Sunday morning volunteers should check the Chapel’s voice mail and/or website.

Bread Sunday

Bread Service Is Coming!

Many Unitarian Universalist congregations in North America hold a special Intergenerational Bread Service on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. We honor the harvest with gratitude and generosity. At Eliot, we invite everyone to bring bread or grain-based baking that has a special meaning to you and/or your family. During the service you will be invited to bring your baking to the front, briefly share why it’s special, and leave it on the table. After the service we will feast on what everyone brought! You are welcome to participate regardless of whether you are a member or how long you’ve been attending services. Our table is open and inclusive!

Your Quilts Are Wanted

During Bread Service, the Chapel is decorated with quilts that are brought in by Eliot members and friends. Do you have a quilt you would like to share? Bring it to the front office. Be sure to label your quilt and anything you use to protect the quilt with your name and telephone number. If your quilt has a story, please include it with the quilt when you turn it in. All quilts need to be turned in to the office by Tuesday, November 17. They will hang in the Chapel for our November 22 and November 29 church services. The quilts will come down after the church service on November 29. If you don’t pick them up on that day, they'll be in the front office for you to pick up at your earliest convenience.
