Hello Friends,

As we continue to stay safe in our homes I will share the latest updates on church life each week in this email:

  • The church building will remain closed until the shelter-in-place mandate is lifted. Our Sunday services will be available on Facebook and our website each Sunday at 10:15 am. Remember these services can be watched at the time of the service and again afterwards for those who missed it.

Click on the service to print out a bulletin to follow along:
  • 5/10/20 Worship @ 10:15 am
  • Special music will be performed by Darin Jellison, and Brian Jones. Brian is the music andof the Lehigh Valley.
  • Special thanks to all the musicians taking part in our services, to Jerry Trexler for reading scriptures, to Autumn Kandt for editing the service, and to Darin for uploading them for all of you to watch.

You will find something new in this week's bulletin -
We would like to connect with each other by sharing greetings and stories about how you are coping in these different times. If you are interested in taking part, please call or email me for details.

Is there someone in your life in need of prayer?  Click  here  to fill out a prayer request form and Pastor Bruce will mention that person’s first name during worship. Please be sensitive to privacy. Permission to share from those involved must be granted before making a request.

Please be safe, stay inside as much as necessary, and remain healthy.

Most of us who have been going to church for any part of our lives know the prayer called “The Lord’s Prayer.” Often children learn its name by the first two words of the traditional prayer, “Our Father.” I have always been fond of the New Zealand translation of the prayer, which is also used in the Maori and Polynesian cultures. The prayer reads,

  “Eternal Spirit,
Earth-maker, Pain bearer, Life-giver,
Source of all that is and that shall be,
Father and Mother of us all,
Loving God, in whom is heaven:

The hallowing of your name echo through the universe;
The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world;
Your heavenly will be done by all created beings;
Your commonwealth of peace and freedom
sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.
From trial too great to endure, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil, free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love,
now and forever. Amen.”
Perhaps this Sunday, as the United States celebrates Mother’s Day , it is important to think of God as “Father and Mother of us all.” This year, maybe even more than in some other years, Mother’s Day may be a poignant day. Many of us will not be with our mothers due to social distancing. Many of us may have no mothers with whom to celebrate. Many of us, especially those who have struggled with motherhood or to become mothers, will have an exceptionally hard time. Yet, all of us are parented by our loving God – no matter whether we call God father, mother, creator, cosmic power, holy one, or one of the myriad names we have given for this being who birthed and blesses us. Perhaps this Sunday we can give thanks for the mothering love of God and of the women in our lives who nurture, bless, encourage, nudge, and love us. Perhaps there is something of a “mother” in all of us when we love one another as God loves us. I hope this week you feel the mothering, fathering, all-encompassing love of God and of the people in your life. Be blessed by love. Bonnie

A Message to our 2020 High School and College Graduates

“If you've come through this school year as a graduate, you can survive anything. You can make the most of anything that comes your way. There is nothing that you can't overcome because you've been tested as much as any young person can be tested. All the rites of passage that you may not have had the advantage of this time will mean so much more to you when they happen for you sometime down the road, whether it's in college, whether it's a wedding, whether it's any major event. They're going to mean that much more because you know what it's like to go without.”
