Ken & Cindy Boggs - Welcoming Churchgoers

Greeters play a vital role in welcoming everyone to our church! They are the first faces everyone sees. They are not just responsible for handing out bulletins, and greeting guests, but providing guidance, and helping to establish a sense of hospitality. Just like you are being welcomed home!

Corinthians 13:13

All God’s people here send their greetings.

Sunday Sermon Snippet

Our faith is a seed that needs to be cultivated, and its growth depends on its nourishment, it has the potential to move mountains, but like a mustard seed it can’t grow without a connection with God.

Open your Bible and pray and nurture your faith!

Reminders

  • All events (dinners, meetings, practices, etc.) held in the Sanctuary or FLC must be reserved with the office. When reserving events, the set-up and clean-up time must also be reserved. Activities have greatly increased, some even back-to-back.

  • Watch our services on Facebook or YouTube!
  • Help support the mission and ministries of Fincastle UMC through our secure online giving site.
  • Thank You in Advance!: We are so happy and proud that other community groups use our Family Life Center for various events and meetings. It has become a hub of activity for the community. However, it would be extremely helpful if you are attending one of these outside activities to ensure the room is returned the way it was found. Thank you for your help!

From the videography team:

We attempt to stream the Sunday worship live to both YouTube and Facebook each Sunday, against an ever-changing software environment. Upgrades and changes to Apple iPadOS, the Mevo video application, Facebook, and YouTube must all be taken into account to get the video online to the two platforms.

If everything works right, our "live stream" is available on both platforms during the service. However, when there are problems, our backup plan is to upload the video recording after the service. If you have any questions or concerns about the live stream, please let Pastor Jim or Deb know.

Recently, on two Sundays in a row, a software bug caused the YouTube stream to stop about 5-7 minutes into the service. We were forced to upload those videos later. Videos that are uploaded in this fashion end up on our @FincastleUMCMedia YouTube channel on the Home tab in a section entitled "Videos". For example, you can find the 9/7 and 9/14 services in this location. Normally, the service streams to the "Live" tab, or may also be listed in the "For You" section on the main Fincastle UMC Media page. If YouTube is the platform you use to access our videos, please click the "Subscribe" button near the top of the page so you will be notified when new videos are posted.

The past two Sundays our YouTube stream went live perfectly, but wasn't showing up for anyone to view on the YouTube channel. This was caused by a security change, which made all new live videos "Private" unless you explicitly marked them "Public." We found and fixed this problem Sunday afternoon (10/5).

A major upgrade to the iPad platform (iPadOS 26) which "controls" the video stream will be necessary in the coming weeks. After a similar upgrade, we had various problems with our videos on Facebook for a few weeks. We always "hold back" on these updates to try to give the software time to stabilize, but there may still be problems. If so, we will do our best to provide the video as soon as possible after the service.

Thanks for your patience, and thank you for viewing!
