The Great 50 Day Challenge & Pentecost Celebration

First Church is answering the call and taking the challenge again this year! We are asking all of our members to invite people to church during the season of Easter and to help welcome fifty new people into the life of our church. We will have people joining through Pentecost, on May 24. Contact Lacey Adair (LAdair@FUMCPensacola.com), Director of Membership with any questions and visit the church's website or the Church Office to fill out a membership form.

On Pentecost Sunday, May 24, we will come together to celebrate the birthday of the Church with a special red velvet dessert in The Wright Place! Pentecost is celebrated on the 50th day of Easter. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit.

Vacation Bible School | Space Adventure: Made for Wonder

May 31 – June 4 | Sun Kickoff: 9:30am – Noon | Mon – Thurs: 9:00am – Noon

All children ages 3 (as of September 1, 2025) through (completed) 5th grade are invited to blast off with us this summer on an amazing journey to the stars! Made for Wonder invites kids to explore the vast universe and discover that the same God who created the heavens created them with purpose. Through out-of-this-world adventures, they’ll learn that they are wonderfully made to shine God's light everywhere they go.

Parents are encouraged to join their kids for our 11:00am ICON service in The Upper Room on Sunday, May 31 as we celebrate the start of VBS together.

WANT TO VOLUNTEER AT VBS?
In order to provide a safe, fun, and loving VBS we need your help! We are calling upon the church to help us with this grand outreach opportunity to share the love of God to the community of Pensacola. There are various places to serve during Vacation Bible School such as: Prayer, snacks, crew leaders (leading children to various stations), station leader assistants (assisting a station leader), registration (checking the children in upon arrival) and many more. SERVE TOGETHER

Serve Together

Serve Together is how we live out our calling at First Church — by using our gifts to serve God, one another, and our community. Throughout the year, opportunities are available both inside our church and beyond our walls, and we regularly share an updated Immediate Needs list highlighting where help is most needed right now. Serving is not a one-time event but an ongoing part of life at First Church. Whether you’re already serving or looking for a place to begin, there is a next step for you in this season.

Next Steps:

• Review the Immediate Needs List and Ongoing Opportunities Booklet

• Choose a role that fits your availability and gifts

• Reach out to the ministry leader listed to get connected

The most current opportunities are always available at FUMCPensacola.com/Serve.

DAILY READINGS

Commit this season to reading scripture each day. It's good practice. If you don’t already have a daily devotion, the scriptures below are designed to expand the range of biblical reading in worship and personal devotion. You can find them in the bulletin each week. The Daily Readings are taken from “The Daily Office Lectionary” in The Book of Common Prayer, Year 2. Read the Bible each week. It will be a blessing.
