JUST Pensacola: Nehemiah Action

Your Presence Is Power!

Tuesday, May 6 | 6:00 - 7:30pm | First Baptist Church of Warrington

We have an affordable housing problem in Escambia County. As of 2024:

• 23,378 households cannot find an affordable place to rent;

• Over 2,000 children do not have a stable place to lay their heads at night;

• 3 out of 4 families face paying more that 30% of their gross income on rental housing and utilities;

• and a fuil-time year-round job is not enough to afford rent.

It takes people power to address these serious community problems. And our congregation has an opportunity to stand up for change on Tuesday, May 6 at a JUST Pensacola event called the Nehemiah Action. Just by showing up, we can support real solutions to these real problems. If you would like to support these issues and represent First United Methodist Church simply by being present, please scan the QR code and fill out the form letting us know you'll join us.

One evening can change the lives of others

You are all invited to show up to support more affordable, quality housing in our community. Click HERE to register with our congregation.

If you have questions, you can ask one of our JUST team members—-they're wearing yellow JUST Pensacola t-shirts this morning. Anyone wishing to carpool from the church is invited to meet here at 5:00pm. We'll leave soon after that in our church bus and several other vehicles. First Baptist Church of Warrington is at 18 S Merritt St, Pensacola, FL 32507 (about a 10 minute drive from the church).

DAILY READINGS

Commit this season to reading scripture each day. It's good practice. If you don’t already have a daily devotion, the scriptures below are designed to expand the range of biblical reading in worship and personal devotion. You can find them in the bulletin each week. The Daily Readings are taken from “The Daily Office Lectionary” in The Book of Common Prayer, Year 1. Read the Bible each week. It will be a blessing.

Joyful, Joyful Campaign Update

The completion of the Joyful, Joyful Building Project is funded by the Joyful, Joyful Generosity Campaign. And none of it happens without your help.

We've had a great response to the Joyful, Joyful Generosity Campaign! Our most recent updated stated that we've had 183 households make a commitment to the campaign with $1.439 million pledged. This is surely something to celebrate and give thanks to God for, but we're not quite to our goal yet. If you can still help us meet our goal of $1.5 million (or even help us push beyond it) we would love to hear from you. There's a 'Make a Commitment' button below. Every gift matters regardless of the size. It's not about the quantity but the quality of the gift. Our goal is not equal gifts but equal sacrifice. It's important to remember that these gifts are to be given over the next three years (4 tax years). And that these commitments are meant to go above and beyond your regular giving to the church. If you would like more info on the Generosity Campaign, how to plan your gift, or the Building Project, visit FUMCPensacola.com/Joyful.
