PW Gift Card Campaign

Presbyterian Women of First Pres has supported the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County (DVCCC) annually for many years. Due to a lack of storage space at their locations, they would most graciously appreciate gift cards to local supermarkets, as well as Walmart and Target. Please consider helping these families by supporting this on-going need.

You may do so as follows:

   • Place Cards in the Sunday Offering Plate

   • Take them to Office Administrator Dan Williams during weekly office hours

   • Drop them in the locked mailbox at the office entrance

   • Send them by mail (be aware of possible delivery delays)

Please clearly label your envelope with your name (or mark as Anon) and the amount of the card.

The mission of the DVCCC is to provide intervention, education, outreach, advocacy, and programs to prevent, reduce, and remedy domestic in Chester County. DVCCC is committed to empowering survivors of domestic abuse through providing information and supporting them as they reclaim their lives.

VBS Registration is Open

We hope families are starting to look forward to Vacation Bible School this summer! If your children are planning to attend, please register them through THIS LINK. This will give us an idea of how many children to prepare supplies for and give you the opportunity to order the VBS music CD and/or a VBS t-shirt. We also need some adult assistance to bring the fun to life each week. Even if you are only able to help one Sunday, that would be a great help. More information can be found on a the volunteer form HERE. Please contact Sara Pantazes with questions.

Safe Harbor Fundraiser

Safe Harbor of Chester County invites you to join in the fun and fundraiser - Cornhole games and Concert, Saturday April 30. Cornhole starts at 2 pm with the concert at 4 pm. There will be popular food trucks and micro-breweries from around the county on hand with tasty treats.

There is also a virtual auction that opens April 30 but you can preview the wide range of items - sports tickets, gift baskets, dinners, mini-vacations and more - beginning now on their facebook page or web site.

Rev. Dr. Thomas Long

Please join us on May 1 and May 8 to hear the Rev. Dr. Thomas Long in the pulpit. Named one of the Top 12 Preachers in America, Dr. Long is a giant in his field and has influenced generations of pastors. We are delighted that he agreed to preach at First Pres.

Dr. Long retired as the the Bandy Professor Emeritus of Preaching at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his B.A. and M.Div. from Erskine Seminary and his Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1980. He began his career as a preacher at McElroy Presbyterian Church near Atlanta, Georgia, and since that time has taught at a number of seminaries, including Yale, Princeton and Candler.

Long's field is in Homiletics and is a strong proponent of the two pillars of preaching: strong exegetical work held along with strong presentation skills. Preaching magazine named his Witness of Preaching one of the 25 most influential books on preaching in the past 25 years.

We look forward to welcoming Dr. Long to First Pres.

The Holy Indifference Prayer:

Dear God, Your will, nothing more, nothing else, nothing less. Amen

This Week's Prayer Topic:

For process of PNC engaging with Candidates for Senior Pastor that there will be clear communication and understanding that a good/right match between our congregation and the candidate will be made, according to God’s will.

The PNC has asked that we as a congregation pray for the Holy Spirit within them to:

1)    Give them energy,

2)    Clarity,

3)    Wisdom & discernment,

4)    Seek God’s will for our congregation, and

5)    Lead a person of God’s will to us.

Please make this an ongoing prayer throughout this transition period.

Each week we pray for our congregation at 12:00 p.m on Thursdays. Set an alarm or schedule it in your calendar to join us! You don’t need to only pray for the topic of the week, but you can continue to pray for previous topics as well or anything that God lays on your heart.
