Church Office is Closed
Following the guidance of our elected officials, the church office will remain closed. You can find the Holy Week worship schedule below.

All events, groups, or meetings will also remain suspended. Contact your group leader for further instructions about virtual meetings or other arrangements. While the staff will not be in the building during this period, they are still available through email and by phone. The staff emails are available here. If you'd like to leave a voicemail, the staff can access them remotely and reach out to you.
Thank You for Your Generosity!
Because of the incredible generosity of our church, we have raised over $53,000 for COVID-19 urgent relief matching gift fund! Along with our Matthew 25 Campaign that raised $25,000, that's $78,000 the church has given between Ash Wednesday and now. THANK YOU so much for your generous and loving contributions. As this money has come in, it has gone out to many different area organizations and is making a difference in our community! It is not too late to contribute to the COVID-19 relief fund, but please know that it won't be directly matched because the matching limit was reached! To learn about a specific instance of the money at work, see the announcement below!
Your Generosity at Work:
The House of Grace Catholic Worker Clinic operates right in the heart of the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. It provides residents, many of whom are experiencing homelessness and addiction, with medical and dental services along with showers, warm hospitality, and Christian love. If you had a chance to listen to our second Matthew 25 podcast with the women from Just Listening, some of the listening sessions take place in the waiting room there. The generosity of First Pres members has enabled us to give $3,000 toward their mission. For a recent article in the Philadelphia Inquirer that speaks about their work, click below.
How Can I Help?
Many of you have asked, "What can we do during this time of need?" For the time being, we'll offer a couple suggestions each week on how you can connect and make a difference during this time of fear, isolation, and uncertainty.

  • Become a Masketeer! – Representative Carolyn Comitta is asking anyone who has sewing skills to help make fabric masks for (non-healthcare) essential workers. To join this effort, visit https://www.chescomasketeers.com/.

  • Write a card – Our elderly neighbors are in quarantine in skilled care facilities, and most don’t have access to the technology that keeps younger people connected. Write a card addressed to “Any Resident” and bring a little sunshine to someone’s day. This week, we’re sending cards to Brandywine Hall, 800 W Miner St, West Chester, PA 19382.
Know Someone Without Online Access?
We recognize that not every member has access to the technology required to join in online worship. Many don't have email, or internet, or smart phones and we're hoping to connect with them. If you know someone who doesn't currently have access, but would like to, please reach out to Elizabeth Hess at ehess@firstpreswc.com . She would love to talk with them and work toward a solution!
Two New Opportunities to Connect

  1. Thursday Facebook Live Bible Study (Pastors): Every Thursday at 12:00 p.m., we'll go live on the church's Facebook page with a Bible study looking at the coming Sunday's scripture reading. The preaching pastor will lead the study and guide us as we prepare for the weekend's worship service.
  2. Friday Coffee With The Pastor: On Fridays from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m., Greg will be in a Zoom room to connect with anyone that wants to participate. Brew your own coffee or tea and jump online to discuss anything that's on your mind or to connect with other members of the congregation while we're physically distant.
Communication Schedule
While we can't physically be together, we'd like to stay in touch as much as possible. There are a few regular pieces of communication we wanted to make you aware of. You can access all the following studies, emails, concerts, etc. on our coronavirus updates page by clicking the button below.

  1. Monday Live Devotional: Pastor Caroline will be leading a short, 5-ish minute devotional on our Facebook page each Monday at noon!
  2. Tuesday Mini-Concerts: Each Tuesday, our music staff and a few volunteers will be putting together brief concerts for you to watch and enjoy.
  3. Wednesday Weekly Email: This has always happened, but be sure to catch the latest updates each Wednesday!
  6. Weekend Update: Each weekend our pastors will be sending a reminder about the coming Sunday's worship service with a little note of encouragement.

During this ever-changing season, we want to make sure you have all the resources you need to stay connected to and informed about First Pres happenings. The three main ways we'll communicate are via email , Facebook , and our website . We have dedicated a page ( firstpreswc.com/coronavirus ) on our website to keep the latest news, videos, and updates as we try to stay connected during this time.
Giving
Several of you have asked about how to give your offering while we are worshiping online. One way is by giving your offering online via our secure credit card portal. To give online simply click on the button below. You can always give by mailing a check to 130 W Miner St, West Chester, PA 19382 . We will process those offerings once a week.

We also know this is a time of uncertainty for many. If this is your situation, please know the church is here for you. Reach out if we can help in any way.
