Music Sunday
An Invitation from First Universalist Music Director, Carol Xiong: You are warmly invited to this year’s Music Sunday on December 13th, 2015! The choir, the Reverend Celie, and I have worked hard all season to create a not-to-be-missed celebration of December Festivals Around the World. Gathering from the Jewish, French, Canadian, Russian, German, African, Welsh, and American traditions, this musical extravaganza will feature choirs, sextets, theatre, solos, and more! Furthermore, since the organ will be tuned this December 1st, we are more than excited to hear our dear Hope-Jones Organ restored to its full glory. Join us for this one-of-a-kind experience! We hope very much to see old and new friends at this memorable celebration!
Drop-in Discussion: Planned Parenthood. Rick Bartell of Planned Parenthood of Western New York will give an overview of Planned Parenthood and its services, and answer questions.

One CAN make a difference
|
This Sunday, December 13th, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for The Community Food Cupboard. Let's make this a wonderful collection for those who need the Cupboard during this holiday season. Wish list items include baked beans, canned fruit/veggies/meats, cereal, soup, mac & cheese, pasta, peanut butter, and tuna fish. Thank you for your generosity!

RING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH US!
|
Membership Committee will host the New Year’s Eve family-friendly event in the Clara Barton Lounge. The evening begins with appetizers and socializing at 7:00 PM, followed by a potluck dinner at 7:20 PM. John “The Amazing” Adams will astonish us with a magic show. Music will follow before we head out to the fire works. If you’d like to share your talent, contact Nancy Gaede. Please sign up at the Membership Table in the Clara Barton Lounge - but if you decide at the last minute to join us, please do! There is always room for more.

ROC THE DAY: Thank you for your support on ROC the Day! This was our first year participating in United Way's ROC the Day event, and we were able to raise over $230!
DECK THE HALLS WITH... CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS! Please help make the sanctuary beautiful for Christmas by ordering a poinsettia plant for $8. You can place your order with Marcy Klein, Ruth Fitzgerald, or Eileen Fernandez by Sunday, December 13th. Please specify whether you will take the plant home after the Christmas Eve service or donate it to our Congregation without Walls. If you'd like to dedicate the plant in memory or honor of someone, we'll list his/her name in the Order of Service on Sunday, December 20th and on Christmas Eve. Also, if you'd like to deliver a plant to someone, we welcome your help!
MITTEN TREE:
This year our church children will decorate the mitten tree on December 13th. Please bring in store bought or handmade or barely used mittens, gloves, scarves and hats to place either under the tree or just on the chancel floor to the right. All adult and children's sizes are needed. Donations following the 13th will still be gratefully accepted, until after Christmas. Stuffed animals cannot be used. Thanks in advance!
CHRISTMAS COOKIES:
If you are planning on attending the Christmas Eve service, please consider sharing a dozen of your favorite Christmas Cookies, homemade or store bought. Please let Tom Williams know at
busterdawg_1947@yahoo.com
or 663-4362. Thank You.
HOLIDAY CONCERT: Join us on Sunday, December 20th at 3:00 pm for "A Christmas Together" holiday concert presented by Ann Mitchell, Howard Spindler, and Kerri Lynn Slominski in our Sanctuary. Suggested donation of $5 at the door.
START THE NEW YEAR RIGHT WITH RAIHN:
First Universalist's next RAIHN* Week is January 3-10, when we will welcome temporarily homeless families to stay in our church for the week. During the darkest, coldest days of the year it is especially important that we provide our RAIHN guests with good food and a warm, safe place to stay. Although no RAIHN training is available before our next RAIHN Week, untrained volunteers are welcome to help with activities such as set up, clean up, and laundry. If you're unsure what a specific task involves, ask us about shadowing a seasoned volunteer. We'll happily find a volunteer who will show you what to do. To volunteer or if you have questions, contact Chris DeGolyer (
chrisdeg@frontiernet.net
or 461-3616) or talk to Marti Eggers after church on Sunday. *
