Sunday, March 20:
10:30 a.m. Service - Stories and Songs of Light and Dark. This year, two spring holidays coincide: Palm Sunday, marking Jesus’ symbolic entry into Jerusalem, an act that would culminate in his arrest; and the Vernal Equinox, marking a day of balance between the hours of day and night. In honor of them both, we will lift up the interplay of light and dark in our lives, through story, ritual, and song. Children are welcome to stay for the full service, or to go upstairs for child care. For this service, you are welcome bring a small object that represents winter or spring for you, to be placed on the altar table.
9:15 a.m. Drop-in Discussion - Mobilizing for a Livable Climate. Neely Kelley, New York state lead organizer for Mothers Out Front, will discuss that organization’s work in building a social movement of mothers to make a swift, just and complete transition from fossil fuels to clean and renewable energy so our children and grandchildren inherit a livable climate.

GATHER THE SPIRIT: The final gathering will take place Wednesday, March 16th at 5 PM in the back of the Sanctuary. This is a midweek moment of renewal, beginning with open meditation and continuing with shared reflection upon a poem. All are welcome to drop in.
SOCIAL JUSTICE PLATE: The recipient of the Social Justice plate on March 20th will be Rural and Migrant Ministries. This organization works to bring justice to farmworkers and their families. Although farmworkers are the backbone of New York State's $4 billion agricultural industry, they are being exploited. Many farmworkers earn little more than minimum wage, with no overtime pay. Since farmworkers are not included in the present labor laws of NYS, they are not entitled to a day of rest, nor are they eligible for workers' compensation when injured on the job although exposed to many safety hazards in their work. The organization also helps to send the children to summer camp and involves youth in an economic project. Thank you in advance for your generosity! Our own Connie Valk is on the Statewide Board, and chair of the annual fundraising dinner in October. She would be happy to add anyone from the church to the committee in charge.
THE BOOK CLUB
selection for March 20th is Breakfast With Buddha, by Roland Merullo.
Roland's writing style is a witty and joyful one.
Please join us at 12 noon in the discussion room on the second floor.
All are welcome and it is not necessary to have read the book.
The April 24th selection is The New Jim Crow, by Michelle Alexander. For questions contact either Shirley Bond at Bondshirl1@gmail.com or Sarah Singal at ssingal@Rochester.rr.com.
BEGINNING MEDITATION PRACTICE: Starting Wednesday, March 23rd from 5:15-6:30 PM in the Sanctuary. This group will meet each Wednesday - all are welcome! Please contact Kathy Russell at krussel6@frontiernet.net for more information..
