Rev. Dr. Susan Frederick-Gray, President of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) says, in part, “This anti-choice decision by the Supreme Court infringes on our deeply held religious beliefs. Access to abortion and the right to choose is an issue of gender equality, bodily autonomy, and religious liberty, all of which are long held Unitarian Universalist religious teachings.” When is abortion the “right” choice? What is your comfort level with various reasons to abort a pregnancy? Theo Munson and Melissa Parrish present. Drop-In Discussions are virtual! We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the
First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link in this blurb title!

Sunday, September 11 | Book Group: "The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story" by Nikole Hannah-Jones - Part II!
Yes, the book for this month is the same as in August! There is so much to unpack, we decided to give it two months of discussion instead of just one. There are several options for reading available which should give you a variety of choices. The hardcover or kindle is the longest and most complete version. However, there are also summaries and a New York Times article if you're pressed for time and/or want to explore other forms of discussion around the topic. Please join us September 11 at 11:50am in the Chalice Room for a lively discussion!
October 2 | In-Church Drop-In Discussions to Resume!
Drop-in discussions will resume in the Chalice Room starting at 9:15am, on Sunday, Oct. 2, and will continue to be held there on the first Sunday of each month until further notice. The initial Sunday morning discussion will be about where we want to go, what topics we want to discuss, and what ground rules we want to adopt. The Zoom drop-in discussions on Tuesday nights will continue as they are now without interruption. Phil Ebersole is the person to talk to if you have thoughts about the future in-church discussions. Beth Ares is the person to talk to about the Tuesday evening Zoom discussions.
