10:30am Sunday Service | Addiction and Community

So many in our congregation and beyond have been touched by addiction. And too many have suffered alone. Where do we find connection to a community of folks who understand? How can this church be a place to speak openly and tenderly about our experiences with addiction?

Tuesdays | Drop-In Discussion: Health Care Disparities and Relieving Medical Debt

RIP Medical Debt has been written up in UUWorld (Summer 2020) and the NY Times (11/28/20) — “Churches are rescuing Americans from crushing medical bills ... churches whose “overarching creed is love!” ” Much of this charity’s work is now being targeted to the impact of the COVID crisis on communities of color. Theo Munson presents. Drop-In Discussions are virtual! We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Wednesdays | Midweek Meditation

First Universalist Church will be hosting Midweek Meditation services with Rev. Lane and/or Rev. Michelle on Wednesdays from 11:30am-noon. A time to connect for deep breathing, meditation, singing, and silence. On second Wednesdays, an extra half hour of sharing will follow the traditional format. Calling all gardeners!

Last year’s season our plants were pretty much on their own, but this new season brings safe outdoor socializing while making our church especially attractive and celebrating our interdependence in the web of life! Please contact Sarah at garden@uuroc.org if you are interested in being involved.

June 16 | Night Without a Bed: An FPGROC Event

This event is a social media challenge to raise awareness about the issue of family homelessness. On Saturday, June 26 Family Promise of Greater Rochester invites you and your family and friends to spend the night of June 26 sleeping anywhere without a bed, such as your car, in a tent, or on the living room floor. Take a photo of yourself and your family and share it on social media using the #NightWithoutaBed and #fpgroc hashtags. The #NightWithoutaBed event is also a fundraiser and registration is now open. Sorrows:

A sorrow from Norma Sittnick: Jim Sittnick died this past Saturday in the early hours of the morning. Family is coming in this weekend to be with Norma and memorial service plans will be announced to the congregation as soon as they are made. Sending love to all who knew and were touched by Jim and especially sending love to Jim’s three children and to Norma.

A sorrow for Johanna Connelly: Please hold in your heart our dear Johanna Connelly, whose firstborn son, Brian (age 53, from WA), died suddenly the day after her birthday, and the second anniversary of her husband's death.
