Tuesday, Sept. 30 | Drop-In Discussion: Rev. Kirby: Con Man, Reformer, or Prophet?
Rev. Kirby Hensley founded and led Universal Life Church, which offered mail-order ordinations coupled with an all-inclusive creed: “Universal Life”. Was this a purposeful challenge to what is considered a legitimate church—or a con? Let’s discuss what may apply to our experiences in faith communities. John Lukes will present and moderate. Drop-in Discussions meet via Zoom on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link in this blurb title!
Friday, October 3, 8am-3pm | Playground Build Service Project at 530 Webster Ave.

Build Day is October 3 at 8am, at the field next to the Ryan R-Center/School 33 / Sully Library complex. Registration is required. Park where available on nearby side streets (observe signage) as the complex parking lot will not be available. Over 150 volunteers - all ability levels - in total are needed from the community. Can we count on you? Volunteers needed for: Registration, Gathering Tool Donations / Rentals, Building Playground Equipment, Concrete Pouring, Painting / Staining, Mulch Spreading, Food Distribution, Photography, Kid Activities, and much more! Please note that you must register here to participate, and also please let Justin, Congregational Life Coordinator, conglife@uuroc.org, know if you sign up, as he will be sending out a coordinating email closer to Friday for all uuroc volunteers.
Sunday, October 5 | In-Person Drop-In Discussion: Have We Voted for the Last Time?
Bill Elwell will lead a discussion on whether elections will be cancelled, and Trump successfully assumes all power as a full-scale dictator. He said he’d only be a dictator for the first day, but maybe he was using the term “day” as used in Genesis. We meet at 9:15am in the Chalice Room on the first Sunday of the month. All are welcome!
Opening for Childcare Assistant
If you know someone who would enjoy working with children alongside our faithful childcare leader, Carol Williams, for two hours each Sunday, please share this link with them. Questions should be directed to Rev. Michelle at edu@uuroc.org with “Childcare” in the subject line.
Remember
Worship at First Universalist Rochester starts at 10:30am on Sundays ALL YEAR ROUND!
