10:30am Sunday Service | Respecting Indigenous History and Land
The Common Read across the Unitarian Universalist Association for this year is An Indigenous Peoples History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz. How does the history of indigenous peoples in our country inform ways to be in relationship and solidarity today?
Speaker: Rev. Lane Campbell

We are cancelling in-person worship for the foreseeable future, and taking our worship experience completely online via Zoom. We will hold on-line services each Sunday at 10:30am (our regular time).
Upcoming Events & Additional Announcements
We’ll look at an ecocentric model of human development and also consider how we are responding to the pandemic to think about new ways of faith development in our congregations. This first-ever Gould Discourse presented via Zoom will allow us to create break out groups. So, you will have opportunities to talk briefly with other Upstate New York Unitarian Universalists about how you, personally, are responding to being in isolation; and also, to consider the implications of how your congregation is responding to the pandemic. Bring handicrafts or materials to doodle if you like; these activities often help people focus better when listening.

Sat. May 16 | Eunice Eckberg Memorial Film Series: When They See Us
Join us to watch the Netflix four-episode series of When They See Us on our own, and meet via Zoom to share thoughts and reactions on May 16 from 10:30 am to Noon. Melissa Parrish (who suggested this series) and Rev. Lane are facilitating this conversation. This miniseries was created, co-written, and directed by Ava DuVernay. It is based on events of the 1989 Central Park jogger case and explores the lives and families of five male suspects who were falsely falsely accused and then prosecuted with the rape and assault of a woman in Central Park, New York City. Please RSVP to FIRE@uuroc.org!

Sat. May 16 | Nester Street Food Cupboard Donations
Nester Street Food Cupboard is accepting donations again! Katherine Flynn will be in the church parking lot on Saturday, May 16, from 11-11:30am, to accept donations of food or money (checks welcome as well). Any questions, contact Katherine 236 6265 or

Wednesdays | Midweek Meditation
First Universalist Church will be hosting Midweek Meditation services with Rev. Lane and Rev. Michelle on Wednesdays from 11:30am-Noon. Just a brief time to connect for deep breathing, meditation, singing, and silence. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link!

Thursdays | Join a Small Group Ministry!
If you haven’t taken the opportunity to be a part of a small group ministry thus far, now is a great time to stay connected. Our Small Group Ministries meet online over Zoom and Rev. Michelle is happy to connect folks who are interested in meeting together for support, spiritual nourishment, and sharing with one another. A Thursday morning and Thursday evening group have started, and both still have a few slots open! Look on the Small Group Ministry page of our website at www.uuroc.org/small-groups to take a survey about interest and availability!

From the Caring Committee
Can you help? If you are able, volunteers may be needed to run errands or drop off a meal to a homebound congregant. Please contact the Caring Committee at caring@uuroc.org to put your name on the list of the willing and able volunteers. We appreciate your support during this extended sequestration. Any expenses will be reimbursed with receipt.
