10:30 am Morning Servi
ce:
The Co-Mingling of Our Stories.
Bring waters from the many places you have been for our annual Water Communion Ingathering service. This service for the whole church invites us to consider the emotional spaces we have been in over the course of the summer months. We will be kicking off a three-sermon series about Testimony, the power of sharing our stories of transformation. And this will be our first service to officially welcome Rev. Lane Campbell as our new settled minister!
—Rev. Lane Campbell
9:15 am Drop In Discussion:
Save a Life:
An AED, Automated External Defibrillator, is so easy to use, you don't even have to have training to use it and save a life. Once you turn it on, you just do what it tells you! But, maybe you would appreciate being more informed? Kate Fleury, RN, BSN, a Certified American Heart Association Instructor, will show and demonstrate life-saving techniques that we can use here at First Universalist if it were needed.
The topic for or Drop In Discussion on September 16 will be,
The Four Elements of Success
by Laurie Beth Jones.

AED TRAINING
A brand new Phillips HeartStart AED has been purchased by a very generous member of our First Universalist congregation and is mounted in the area between the sanctuary and the Clara Barton Lounge, near the administrator's office. It is labeled “AED.” Please join us for classes in using the AED and saving a life on September 9, or 16. You can participate in an American Heart Association class led by instructor Kate Fleury, RN, BSN. The classes will be held in the sanctuary at 12:30 pm on Sundays after church. You will learn basic CPR and use of an AED so you can be a more prepared hero. There is no written test to receive a certificate of attendance!

Presenting Brock Tjosvold, Music Director
Last Saturday, August 18, 2018, members of the choir gathered in the sanctuary to audition two Music Director finalist candidates. Each candidate played the organ and then led the choir in a rehearsal; they then proceeded to an interview with Rev. Lane and the Personnel Committee. We chose Brock Tjosvold, a Nebraskan who is now embarking on graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music. He will “debut” with us on Sunday, September 9. We are delighted to welcome this talented, warm, and personable young man to our staff!

FROM THE GARDEN:
We have heard thanks for strawberries, zucchini, cucumbers, the first tomatoes, herbs and flowers along Clinton Ave. and Court Streets from individuals in the neighborhood and from St Joe's House of Hospitality. And in turn we thank our team of garden waterers and mother nature! It would be helpful if we had names and contact information of the good people composting at church. Please let Sarah Singal know who you are! Thanks!
