10am Summer Sunday Service: White Privilege and a Bag of Chips
When an eight year old boy in Syracuse stole a bag of chips from a corner store, I was shocked at the harsh reaction some of my liberal friends had. We’ll explore just how insidious white privilege is, and how even white liberals exercise it without realizing it.

Speaker: Peter House

This will be a hybrid service, with the in-person portion being held at the Canalside lodge in Genesee Valley Park (by the lodge we used last summer, this one is closer to the road and more accessible).

Tuesday, July 12 | Drop-In Discussion: Plant-Based Diet and Climate Change
Animal agriculture is a major driver of climate change. It’s also the one that we as individuals have the most control over, with our dietary choices. And that’s not the only reason to make the switch! Presented by Ted Barnett, MD, and Carol Barnett of Rochester Area Vegan Society and Rochester Lifestyle Medicine Institute. Drop-In Discussions are virtual! We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link in this blurb title!

July 13 | PRIDE Night Out at the Red Wings with Rochester Religious Communities
First Universalist is teaming up with a bunch of religious communities in Rochester to attend PRIDE Night Out with the Rochester Red Wings baseball team on Wednesday, July 13, at 7:05pm. Tickets are $10 per person. Please wear your First Universalist t-shirt or your "Side with Love" t-shirt. Discounted tickets can be purchased using this link! If you need accessible seating, please contact Mike at Mewing@redwingsbaseball.com.

July 16 | Rochester PRIDE Parade sign-up!
The Rochester Pride Parade, to be held July 16, is back after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic! This year marks 50 years since the first LGBTQ+ event was held in Rochester. The present Supreme Court makes this event even more important! We are registered as “Unitarian Universalist Churches”. You can sign up at PRIDE@uuroc.org to march OR sit with a newly formed “Lawn Chair Contingent” to cheer on the 16 marchers we have so far. Details for times/parking for marchers and lawn chair folks will be sent to all those who sign up.

Need COVID-19 test? Know someone who does?
Need a COVID-19 test, but can't find one or afford one? Come visit us! We have had a generous donation of COVID-19 tests and we want to help the community. Please email office@uuroc.org to arrange a pickup time! No questions asked!

FPGROC Summer Celebrations and Richard Brush Memorial Fund Update! We're So Close to the Goal!
Miss seeing our shelter guests? Here is a chance to connect. FPGROC is holding a celebration for guests and graduates on Wednesday, July 20, from 4-8pm at the Day Center, 142 Webster Ave. If you would like to help with planning, set up or take down, food prep, or hospitality, sign up here.
We need only $228 more to meet the matching goal of $2500 offered by an anonymous donor for the Richard Brush Memorial Fund! The fund will help pay for temporary apartment housing for families as they look for permanent housing. To donate online, use the "Donate" button on First Universalist's homepage or https://bit.ly/donate_uuroc. Be sure to choose the designation "Richard Brush Memorial Fund". Or write a check to First Universalist with "Richard Brush Memorial Fund" on the memo line. For more information, contact Chris DeGolyer or Ed Deller.
