Tuesday, May 20 | Drop-In Discussion: The Cheery Agnostic
Western society has painted both agnostics and atheists as dour people with little hope, but Daniel Chadwick will present four kinds of agnostics represented neither by doctrine nor dogma but by real people who were published philosophers. And while there might be more than four kinds of agnostics, this is a good start. Drop-in Discussions meet via Zoom on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link in this blurb title!

Sunday, June 1 | Annual Congregational Meeting
Our Annual Congregational Meeting will be Sunday, June 1, after the service. This provides us opportunity to live into our value of using the democratic process to govern ourselves. Democracy requires our time and participation to work. Again, this year we will have a hybrid meeting to include everyone, either online or in person. We meet each year to approve our budget and appoint our leaders. Full participation of our membership is important! Childcare will be provided.
New bike rules
Please do not bring your bicycles into the building on Sundays between 9am and 1pm. They can impede full accessibility. Bike riders can use the two bike racks across Court St. by the Innovation Square building. Bicycles can be brought inside the building at any other time.
Thank-you Binder!
The Faith In Action Council (FIAC) has a collection of thank-you notes from Social Justice Plate recipients. To share these with the congregation, we have placed them in a white binder on one of the round tables in the Clara Barton Lounge.
Updated Documents: "Covenant of Right Relations" & "Policy on Responsible Behavior"
The Committee on Ministry reviewed and revised our church’s “Covenant of Right Relations” and “Policy on Responsible Behavior”. These revised documents provide a structure to guide our process of conflict resolution. These documents can also be found on our website at uuroc.org/bot. We want our church to be a sanctuary in these challenging times—even as we are facing major changes ourselves. Distress around us can leak into relationships even in this community of intentional love and support. The design of the new policy is based on the Unitarian Universalist value of Love at the center of all interactions. Specific elements were developed from our own church’s previous policies as well as the work of other congregations. The documents have been approved by the Board of Trustees and other church leaders. We hope that some of you will look them over and contact any member of the committee with questions or comments. Email any one of us at com@uuroc.org.
