REACH House (Rochester Engaging in Action for the Chronically Homeless) usually opens for the winter season just before Thanksgiving. This year, due to covid restrictions, it will not. REACH Co-Chair, Andy Carey, will give us an update on REACH and the current state of chronically unhoused people in the Rochester area, courtesy of First Universalist Homeless Heartbeats. Drop-In Discussions are virtual! We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link on the title of this blurb!
Weekly Midweek Meditation sessions are back up each Wednesday at 11:30am! On second Wednesdays, an extra half hour of sharing and meditation will follow the traditional format. A time to connect for deep breathing, meditation, singing, and silence. Look on the
First Universalist homepage for details and a link!
Nov. 6 | Leadership Assembly: Calling All Existing and Potential Church Leaders! (Yes, you!)
Please plan to attend our annual Leadership Assembly this Saturday, November 6, 9-10:30am. We’ve heard from some folks who are uncomfortable meeting in person, so this meeting will be online. You can click on this link, or find the link on our church calendar.
If you are a committee chair, we will be asking you for a one-minute quickie committee report where you succinctly answer these questions:
- What is the main thing your committee is working on?
- What does your committee need?
- What do you imagine your work might contribute to our church reopening process?
We will also be asking all participants to share a short story about what church has been like for you these past months.
Finally, we imagine that church leaders may have questions about our reopening. To help us provide efficient, organized answers, please email your questions by Friday November 5 to
Board@uuroc.org.
Can you help the garden committee?
As you tidy up your garage or gardening corner, maybe you could help out the church gardens. Do you have any extra mulch, seasoned compost, soil, or potting soil? Any extra lumber for repairing or rebuilding our raised beds? Any large planters? And any plants that need thinning? We could use some asters, purple cone flowers, butterfly weed, or late blooming cranesbill geraniums, late blooming anemones, hardy chrysanthemums. Contact us at
Garden@uuroc.org. Thanks!
Small Group Ministry Openings: Opportunities for Connection
Small Group Ministry is designed to foster connection, caring, spiritual growth and development, and to strengthen the fabric of our church community by exploring various topics.
Participants commit to attending a series of about six sessions. Sometimes, individuals continue with the same group for longer periods of time. Each group is led by a trained facilitator and will meet either via Zoom or outside in someone's yard.
Two of our Small Group Ministry groups have openings for new members starting immediately!
- Every other Monday at 1pm
- Every other Thursday at 7pm
Interested in joining a group? Take a look at the description on our website (
uuroc.org) under the “Connect” tab, and complete the
survey regarding your interest and availability. Email questions to Rev. Michelle at
SGM@uuroc.org.
