Tuesday, August 13 | Drop-In Discussion: Christianity Without Beliefs
Let’s discuss Peter House’s most recent sermon asking whether this country is truly a “Christian” nation, what it means to be ‘Christian’, and whether there are any values or principles within Christianity that might help make the world a better place, even for those of us who do not proclaim a devout Christian faith. John Lukes will moderate our discussion. Drop-in Discussions meet via Zoom on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link in this blurb title!
August 18 | Social Justice Plate Offering: Children Awaiting Parents
Our August Social Justice Plate Offering is designated for Children Awaiting Parents. Children Awaiting Parents’ Adoption Agency offers pre- through post-adoption services to help guide adoptive parents as they create a stable, supportive new family. Their mission is to support and work closely with families interested in adoption from foster care. This reassures families and the children they adopt, ultimately leading to successful adoptions. Typically, their adoptive families are spread out throughout New York State, to assure that they can maintain close ties throughout the process. They continue to be available to provide additional resources to families nationally as they contact CAP. Please contribute as generously as you can to support this important work. More info here!

Postcard Writing for the Election
Would you like to join First Universalist for postcard writing in preparation for the upcoming election? We will host ongoing postcard writing sessions on the first and third Sundays through October. Feel free to take the postcards home or stay and write them in the Clara Barton Lounge after Sunday Services on August 4 and 18, September 1 and 15, and October 6 and 20. The Center for Common Ground, a non-partisan organization based in Virginia, is sending postcards to Black and Indigenous people of color throughout the country to encourage them to vote. We provide the addresses, text, and stamps for the postcards. Every vote counts in this crucial election! Questions? Contact Barb Brody. Thank you for considering joining us in this important effort!
