10:30am Sunday Service | A Time to Break Silence
Based on the 1967 speech from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., an exploration of ways his call to break silence still rings true in 2020. Where will we find opportunities to break silence this year in our homes, workplaces, and even our church?
Speaker: Rev. Lane Campbell

9:15am Drop-in Discussion: The Great UU Merger
Each Sunday in the Chalice Room (second floor).
Who, What, When and Why? How would you have voted had you been there at the time? Our long-time Church Historian, Karen Dau, will provide the answers and lead a discussion.

Upcoming Events & Additional Announcements
Thursday, Jan. 16 | Eastman at Washington Square
Eastman at Washington Square Concerts take place on Thursdays at 12:15 to 12:45pm in our sanctuary. January 16 is " Faculty Showcase II": Don’t miss the opportunity to hear wonderful ECMS faculty members in recital, presenting various styles of music. Admission is free! Bring your brown bag lunch and join us.

Sunday, Jan. 19 | Social Justice Plate - January
Our SJP this month will be for REACH Advocacy. REACH advocates for the chronically homeless in our area and tries to make sure they are treated fairly. There is a huge lack of affordable housing in Rochester. With that in mind, two years ago REACH decided to begin the process of getting involved in the "Tiny Home Village" project that is popping up around the country. The REACH folks have started the process but the immediate need for shelter in the winter is important too. Please be as generous as you see fit on January 19 as the offering basket passes by.

Sunday, Feb. 2 | Annual Service Auction
What’s so great about Feb. 2, 2020? Hint: it’s got nothing to do with a groundhog. It’s the date of our annual Service Auction! It’s a fun and fabulous time, and there’s something for everyone! Donations are being accepted on the church website via google form (preferred method), or by hard copy with forms available at church. Donations must be received by Wednesday, January 22 to be included in the auction booklet. Services, social events, food, and unique items are big sellers. Any questions, please contact auction@uuroc.org. Want to help? Watch for volunteer sign-ups during coffee hour in the next few weeks!

From MOCHA: Our coffee mug cupboard overfloweth!
Over the years, many of us have brought in a mug to use during coffee hour. Rarely have any mugs been taken out, even when someone has moved or passed on. To make this situation a bit better, all mugs have been emptied out of the cupboard and placed on the tables in the Clara Barton Lounge. When you find yours, please return it to the cupboard. It would be helpful if you would put your name on it. If you find you have brought more than one cup, either take the extra home or put it in the donate-a-mug box.
Thanks for your help, Nancy and Kitty
