10:30am Sunday Service: Hope is a Discipline

Prison abolitionist organizer Mariame Kaba is well-known for the mantra "hope is a discipline." What are our Unitarian Universalist disciplines of hope? Gather to reflect and practice them in a time when hope is sorely needed.

Speaker: Rev. Sadie Lansdale

Sunday, April 7 | In-Person Drop-In-Discussion - What Makes You Happy?

Leo Tolstoy said happy families are all alike and unhappy families are unhappy in their own way. Is this true? Are there different kinds of happiness? We’ll share what makes each of us happy and see what we come up with. Held at 9:15am in the Chalice Room, led by Phil Ebersole.

Monday, April 8 | Total Solar Eclipse at First Unitarian

Rochester is in the path of totality! Plan now to join your UU friends and community for a collective experience of awe, amazement, and fellowship! They are planning a full afternoon of kids' and adults' activities before the eclipse starts (you can beat the traffic by getting there as early as 1pm), collective viewing, and then worship/music & food to follow! Be part of this once-in-a-lifetime event in an enjoyable atmosphere at First Unitarian. They also plan to stream the live event from the NASA feed, in case of cloudy conditions. But that never happens in Rochester in April, does it?

Saturday, April 13 | Getting Connected!

If you feel like First Universalist is your spiritual home, we encourage you to join us for our Getting Connected class on April 13, 9:30am-noon in the Clara Barton Lounge and online. When you become a member, you make a decision to participate in being part of beloved community at a deeper level. Membership entitles you to vote, to have a voice in the direction of the church, and to be a leader. Members create our church!

Sunday, April 14 | Monthly Food Ingathering

Our monthly food ingathering for the Community Food Cupboard, YAY! Low sodium non-perishable food, toiletries, paper products, and cash are always needed!

Sunday, April 21 | Safety Training for First Universalist

On Sunday, April 21, following the service, there will be a safety training for folks who attend First Universalist Church and especially for ushers and greeters. Have you ever wondered what your role is when someone is disruptive or prompting folks to feel unsafe? Have you wished you knew what resources are available to help our church be more safe? This is the training for you! The Safety Training will be happening in-person, as it pertains to the layout of the building and in-person safety. Join in the conversation on Sunday, April 21, at 12:00pm in the Chalice Room.
