10:30am Sunday Service | It's Bound To Happen...
The Rev. Dr. Natalie Fenimore proclaims that Unitarian Universalists are a people of orthopraxis, "right behavior", rather than orthodoxy, "right belief." While we certainly claim a great variety of beliefs, is it true that we all DO the same things? And would we even want that?! Join our guest preacher from our crosstown sibling congregation as we explore how what we do together shapes our spiritual journeys, where it keeps us stuck, and how we might find our way toward freedom.

Speaker: Rev. Shari Halliday-Quan

Due to COVID-19 we will be holding our worship services online
for the foreseeable future. We will hold on-line services
each Sunday at 10:30am (our regular worship time).

Third in the series of four dialogues that provide a forum to
learn, grow, and act toward antiracism. This discussion, "Rochester’s History of Systemic Racism", will take place (virtually) from 7-8:30pm. From the fiery destruction of Frederick Douglass’ home to the uprising in July 1964 to the perpetuation of residential segregation, we will explore the systemic racism in Rochester’s history. What have we really learned? What is being done? What is OUR vision for our community? Note: A separate email with the link for this event will not be sent out. Look on the First Universalist homepage for more details and the Zoom link!

Jan. 31, 2021 | Auction Amnesty
Have you gotten your invitation and prize winning number in the mail yet? No, this is not Publisher’s Clearinghouse, and there is no catch. Join us after the service on January 31 for some Auction Amnesty fun, music, Auction trivia, and drawings for prizes. Remember, the “Amnesty” part means that you don’t have to do any work this year—just have some fun with us! And if you want to make a financial contribution to help replace the income that the Service Auction normally brings in, you are welcome to do so. You can send a check to the church, or go online to donate, just be sure to let us know it’s for Auction Amnesty! If you have not received an invite, please email finance@uuroc.org, and we’ll be sure to get you one!

  • A Joy from Mutsuko Sunada: who gave birth to a healthy baby boy on January 3. Mom and the family are doing well. Cards for the family and for Airi, who is adjusting to newly being a big sister, are welcome.

Sorrows:
  • A sorrow from Donna Anderson: Donna and Tom’s mom, Doris Helen Foster Smith died peacefully at home on her beloved’s birthday December 28. He came to get her to celebrate his birthday! She was known by so many as Grandma DeeDee. She was so loved by so many and will be sorely missed. My family has lost a mother, grandma and great grandma! We will remember her love for us.
