A lot of people blame something called Critical Race Theory for our troubles, and a few see it as a solution to our troubles. Phil Ebersole has taken the trouble to read books by scholars - mainly law school professors - who advocate this school of thought. He'll deliver a report and lead a discussion. Drop-In Discussions are virtual! We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link on the title of this blurb!
Weekly Midweek Meditation sessions are back up each Wednesday at 11:30am! Look on the

The book group is starting up again. How we have missed you all!
A few of us have decided that for September 26 we will have a discussion about the historical novel "The Island of Sea Women" by Lisa See. The novel takes us on an adventure to South Korea and contains all the elements of page-turning good fiction. This book is hard to put down. Perfect for the waning days of summer. During our hour together it would be great if we could pick out some titles for the church calendar year. If you have read a good book lately, please share it with us!
We plan to meet the last Sunday of each month at 12 noon via Zoom. The next meeting is scheduled for September 26. By the way, did I mention that you do not have to have read the book to join? ALL are welcome! If you have any questions please email Book@uuroc.org.
Sept. 30 | UUCC Book Discussion: "How We Show Up"
Please join the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canandaigua for a discussion on Thursday, 9/30 at 6 pm for a discussion of the book
"How We Show Up" by Mia Birdsong. This book lifts up our deep longing for community as a connection point for all people. Birdsong, an activist and organizer, points us toward radical expressions of community as a source of our liberation. We will meet on Zoom, and all are welcome. Small Group Ministry Openings: Opportunities for Connection
Small Group Ministry is designed to foster connection, caring, spiritual growth and development, and to strengthen the fabric of our church community by exploring various topics.
Participants commit to attending a series of about six sessions. Sometimes, individuals continue with the same group for longer periods of time. Each group is led by a trained facilitator and will meet either via Zoom or outside in someone's yard.
Three of our Small Group Ministry groups have openings for new members starting immediately!
- 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 7pm
- Every other Monday at 1pm
- Every other Thursday at 7pm
Interested in joining a group? Take a look at the description on our website (
uuroc.org) under the “Connect” tab, and complete the
survey regarding your interest and availability. Email questions to Rev. Michelle at
SGM@uuroc.org.
