10:30am Sunday Service: Harvesting Enough

How do we know when we have given enough? When we have taken enough? In this world of mass-consumption and mass-production, our choices have a deep impact on our Earth, on our fellow human beings, and on our communities.

Speaker: Rev. Lane-Mairead Campbell

We ask that anyone attending in-person

wear an N95 or KN95 mask.

Oct. 9 | COVID Listening Session

The COVID Task Force would like to hear your feedback about First Universalist's COVID policies and practices. Join in the conversation on October 9 following the worship service both online and in-person.

Oct. 9 | Book Group: Parable of the Sower

Our review selection for October 9 is Octavia Butler's novel “Parable of the Sower”. This is a futuristic novel set between 2024 and 2027.

What an interesting book Octavia has written! The book can be summed up in one soulful observation: What is to become of our world? We have work to do, but we can do it. The future generations are counting on us. Please join us at noon in the Chalice Room for

a lively discussion and bring book suggestions for future meetings.

Oct. 9 | Food Ingathering

Food ingathering for the Community Food Cupboard of Rochester at Nester Street at our in- person service, YAY! Low-sodium non-perishable food, toiletries, paper products, and cash are always needed!

We will meet in the Clara Barton Lounge from 9am to noon to nourish the spirit, learn from our recent past, and plan for our future! If you have any questions, contact Steve Munson at stephenmunson@mac.com.

Nov. 6 | In-Church Drop-In Discussions have resumed!

Drop-in discussions have resumed in the Chalice Room starting at 9:15am and will continue to be held there on the first Sunday of each month until further notice. The Zoom drop-in discussions on Tuesday nights will continue as they are now without interruption. Phil Ebersole is the person to talk to if you have thoughts about the future in-church discussions. Beth Ares is the person to talk to about the Tuesday evening Zoom discussions.

Upcoming New York State Convention of Universalists, October 21- 22, 2022

Have you heard that our congregation is hosting the 2022 NYS Convention of Universalists on October 21 and 22 and that you are welcome to attend? The Keynote speaker is Sheila Starkey Hahn. There will also be workshop sessions. Here is a link to more convention details. Would you like to be a delegate from our congregation? You can attend meetings either in person, by ZOOM or with a mail-in ballot. Our congregation can send up to four delegates, so please let the Nominating Committee know if you are interested at nomcom@uuroc.org. The Board of Trustees hopes to select delegates at their October meeting. Please contact nomcom@uuroc.org with any questions.
