Sunday, September 11 | Food Ingathering!
Food ingathering is scheduled for this Sunday, September 11, for the Community Food Cupboard of Rochester at Nester Street at our in- person service. Low-sodium non-perishable food, toiletries, paper products, and cash are always needed!
Sunday, September 11 | Big Fall Book Sale!
The church library and bookstore will be open once again for browsing, borrowing, and buying after Sunday services on Sept. 11. If you want book bargains or are interested in UU books, this is your chance. The library and bookstore won’t be open on a weekly basis until coffee hour resumes. Used books will be for sale for whatever you wish to pay. New books will be for sale for half the list price. Exact change is requested, but we accept checks made out to the church. Donations for the sale are welcome! Please leave any donations on the library desk.
Sunday, September 11 | Book Group: "The 1619 Project" by Nikole Hannah-Jones: Part II!
Yes, the book for this month is the same as in August! There is so much to unpack, we decided to give it two months of discussion instead of just one. There are several options for reading available which should give you a variety of choices. The hardcover or kindle is the longest and most complete version. However, there are also summaries and a New York Times article if you're pressed for time and/or want to explore other forms of discussion around the topic. Please join us September 11 at 11:50am in the Chalice Room for a lively discussion!
Saturday, September 17 | Urban Garden Celebration
Celebrate Urban Gardens on Saturday, September 17. The First Universalist Church Community Garden will join others inviting visitors to see what city gardening can look like. There will be a master list of participating gardens that you might want to stop by. Come visit your own garden and others, and meet people who want to make Rochester greener.
October 2 | In-Church Drop-In Discussions to Resume!
Drop-in discussions will resume in the Chalice Room starting at 9:15am, on Sunday, Oct. 2, and will continue to be held there on the first Sunday of each month until further notice. The initial Sunday morning discussion will be about where we want to go, what topics we want to discuss, and what ground rules we want to adopt. The Zoom drop-in discussions on Tuesday nights will continue as they are now without interruption. Phil Ebersole is the person to talk to if you have thoughts about the future in-church discussions. Beth Ares is the person to talk to about the Tuesday evening Zoom discussions.
