Tuesday, November 7 | Drop-In Discussion:
Polygamy, Polyamory and Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM), oh my!
The "Parents as Sexual Educators" series Rev. Michelle did a few years ago had an optional session on "Ethical Non-Monogamy." The parents had heard about it as a growing movement that their kids were talking about. A ScienceDirect article from Dec 2022 states, "Estimates are that approximately 3–7% of the North American population are currently engaged in consensual non-monogamous arrangements with approximately 20% having ever engaged in CNM. Interest in having a CNM relationship is also high." What do ethically non-monogamous relationships look like? How might we start seeing them in general society? And how does this interact with the general societal norm of monogamy? Drop-in Discussions meet via Zoom on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link in this blurb title!

Sunday, December 3 | Ordination & Installation of Rev. Verdis Robinson!
Join us for the Ordination of Verdis LeVar Robinson by the Unitarian Church of Montpelier, First Universalist, & First Unitarian on December 3, at 3pm hosted by First Unitarian. It will be a hybrid service using the following link: live.rochesterunitarian.org. Rev. Shari Halliday-Quan (Lead Minister, First Unitarian Church of Rochester) will preside, Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt (President, Unitarian Universalist Association) will deliver the sermon, and our very own Rev. Lane Mairead-Campbell will deliver the Charge to the Congregations. We'll also welcome special musical guests, bēheld, and an Ordination Choir comprised of members of the ordaining congregations and the Montpelier Community Gospel Choir. We are counting on an enthusiastic turnout from First Universalist at this important event! Verdis has been a beloved member of First Universalist congregation since 2008, an impressive speaker, and soulful singer! The greater Rochester community will benefit from his leadership as our churches strive to be “open-minded, open-hearted spiritual communities…leading lives of justice, love, leaning and hope.” Please RSVP here: http://pp.events/ordainingverdis.
Housing For All: Sock it to Me!
Winter is coming, that’s for sure, but people experiencing homelessness aren’t sure of much of anything. Where can I sleep tonight? How can I stay warm and safe? Housing For All, our all-congregation, two-year social justice project, is gearing up its Service arm by collecting socks to distribute to organizations that provide shelter and/or assistance to these folks. You can begin your participation in Housing For All by bringing new, white socks to a collection box in the Clara Barton Lounge during the month of November. Let’s fill it up to overflowing! Thanks!
