Introducing the new Greenlee 4+1 Graduate Program!
|
4+1 Graduate Program: Stay one more year and earn TWO degrees!
HOW IT WORKS:
The 4+1 program is designed for students majoring in journalism, advertising or public relations to complete their B.S. and M.S. degrees in five years.
In year 4, or their senior year of undergrad, students complete their B.S. degree and begin working on their M.S. degree. Some of the coursework during this year will count for both the undergraduate and graduate degrees.
In year 5, students complete their master’s degree in journalism and mass communication. This will include coursework and completing a thesis or creative component.
Not sure but want to learn more? Reach out to your advisor or faculty mentor to discuss options and what to expect during this accelerated degree program.

20th Annual First Amendment Days: April 11-15, 2022
First Amendment Days is a weeklong celebration of our First Amendment freedoms – religion, speech, press, assembly, petition. A diverse assortment of speakers, events and activities are offered on campus every spring as a creative way to engage students and the entire Iowa State community to better understand the power of free expression. First Amendment Days is also designed to provide opportunities to exercise our five freedoms.
Now in its 20th year, First Amendment Days is the longest-running continual student-led First Amendment celebration at any university in the U.S. The celebration is organized by the First Amendment Committee, which is made up of members of the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication and the Iowa State Daily Media Group.

Real world experience in 434: Advertising Campaigns
|
|
Each fall, students have the opportunity to lead a campaign for a real-world client.
It's all part of 434 Advertising Campaigns where student agencies compete to persuade the client their strategic thinking, creativity and recommendations are the best.
For an entire semester, 434 students put their past academic wisdom, expertise and experience to work. They regularly interact with a real-world client and gain insights into the advertising, public relations and marketing industries.
In the fall of 2021, the client was HuHot Mongolian Grill. Executives ranging from the CEO to the vice president of operations participated in Zoom meetings, conference calls and face-to-face sessions.
The course highlight was final presentations to HuHot executives. Each student agency presented their research findings, campaign recommendations and Integrated Marketing Communications Plans.
If you're interested in participating in 434 Advertising Campaigns this fall, be sure to register for the course. The class is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:40 to 1:55 p.m. in Hamilton Hall. It is taught by Catherine Huggins.
