Portfolio guidelines updated in 499A internship syllabus
The 499A internship syllabus packet is your go-to resource for all things 499A. The section on portfolio requirements was updated Friday, Oct. 10. The updates related to the portfolio are below. See the complete internship syllabus packet for more information about all course requirements and guidelines.

Portfolio of 499 work samples: You may build on an existing portfolio, or create a new one. Your portfolio must be web-based and look professional. You must provide a URL link to this work and submit with your final paper.

Once this has been completed, contact your faculty adviser for an exit interview to present this work. You will be graded on the portion of the 499 portfolio related to your internship, and your internship performance. However, it is strongly recommended you have an online portfolio that showcases much more than your 499 work samples.

A good online portfolio should include:

• Introduction or bio, often paired with a photo
• Resume
• Skills section if appropriate, for example: proficient in Excel, AdobeCreative Suite, or other programs in which you perform work.
• Samples of your work from professional jobs, student media and Greenlee courses — categorized and put into context. For example, if you are including photos you have taken, how were they used? Include the strategy behind your PR or ADVRT projects. This will help the person viewing the portfolio evaluate its purpose. The components will vary based on your experiences. Please contact your faculty adviser if you would like to discuss and/or evaluate your online portfolio together.
Fall 2020 Adobe licenses available at no cost
The university is now offering Greenlee students access to Adobe software on their laptops for the remainder of the Fall semester at no cost. To receive your student license and download the software, please complete this form. These licenses will expire near the end of the fall semester. A similar option will be available for students who need access to Abode software for the spring semester and those details we be shared at a later date.
Activate multifactor authentication by Oct. 31
Information Technology Services at Iowa State is helping protect students’ accounts and data from cybercrime through “multifactor authentication” (MFA). All students will be required to activate multifactor authentication (MFA) for their ISU login by Oct. 31.

Multifactor authentication is a two-step login system requiring an additional action after inputting an account password (like inputting a 6-digit code received via text). With MFA enabled, hackers cannot easily compromise a user’s primary email account and other account information routed through it. For example, if a hacker gained access to your primary email, they could view sensitive transaction data from an Amazon or Venmo account or even reset other account passwords.

To learn more about MFA and see set-up instructions, visit www.it.iastate.edu/mfa or Okta: Activate Multifactor Authentication
