SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL!

Join us for church school this week! We will be hearing about snakes we find in our Bible stories.
PINE STREET INN:
Two volunteers (age 16 and over) are needed to assist in serving the evening meal at Pine Street Inn in Boston on Monday, August 15. Servers arrive at 4:45 PM and finish around 6:00 PM. This is a meaningful and rewarding way to participate in HCC’s outreach mission. For details, contact Ruth Whitner by email at rgilbertwhitner@verizon.net or by phone/text at 339-613-7247.

For the remainder of 2022, two HCC servers and store-bought desserts for up to 80 women are needed each month on the following dates: September 19, October 17, November 21, and December 19.
Contact Ruth Whitner by phone/text: 339-613-7247, by email rgilbertwhitner@verizon.net, or in person, for more detailed information.
BACKPACK DRIVE UPDATE:
Thank you for your generous donations to the annual Interfaith Social Services backpack drive. The drive is now over, and we are delighted to announce that $1,075 was donated, which will cover the cost of at least 21 backpacks filled with essential school supplies for needy students in the greater Quincy area. We also collected 10 backpacks that were donated by church members. The Outreach Committee is extremely appreciative!
GREEN TIP FOR THE WEEK -
               MASS. DROUGHT BILL NEEDS SUPPORT

100% of Massachusetts is in drought this July. It's time to pass the drought bill now before the state legislature. S.530.

Currently, each town decides their own water conservation measures during drought. Some municipalities impose stringent measures, while others do nothing at all, while both withdraw water from the same struggling basin. Bill S.530 would change that by giving EEA the authority to require regional water conservation measures during a declared drought, affecting only nonessential outdoor watering, as recommended in the state's 2019 Drought
Management Plan. Water use for agriculture or business would be exempt.

You can help by writing to our representative urging them to pass S.530.
