A Note from Pete . . .

Dear Friends,

COVID has affected all churches, including ours. If you haven’t been back recently, we really miss you! Churchgoing is spiritually and socially healthy. It’s part of a full and happy life. Let’s get back in the habit! I really hope to see you on Sunday.

Pete

Join us for church

Sunday School!

All are welcome!

This week students will be exploring The Lord’s Prayer

If you are not registered for Sunday School or your information has changed over the summer, please go to: https://hccucc.com/church-school-registration/

Confirmation Orientation @ 5 Pm

(Parents come for first 10 Mins)

We need parent volunteers in our Church School! This year we are asking for a shepherd in each of our three classrooms. We ask that as a shepherd you commit to one month at a time, beginning on the second week of the month and ending with the conclusion of the third week. For example, if you sign-up for October you will join one of our teachers in their class on October 9th, 16th, 23rd. This will allow our volunteers to worship on the first Sunday of the month and participate in communion. As a Shepherd you are not responsible for lesson plans, curriculum or materials. You are an extra set of hands to help with classroom management and support.

If you are interested, please visit our sign-up genius to find a time slot that works for you!

JR. CHOIR STARTS THIS SUNDAY!!

The Jr. Choir program has been a long-time tradition here at HCC. The past couple of years have seen our choir almost evaporate, and although we are just now finding out what it will mean to go about our lives with this virus present, we would like to try to start singing again.

Therefore - HCC’S Jr. Choir for children who enjoy singing, ages 4-5 through 5th-6th grade will hold it’s FIRST REHEARSAL THIS SUNDAY, Sept. 25, after church from about 11:10 - 11:40. Get a snack and then come up the 3rd floor for some singing. Mrs. England and Mr. B will continue to lead this group, holding almost weekly rehearsals and singly monthly in church. We are eager to join together veterans with new voices. Parents are welcome to attend as well, if a little extra support these first few weeks would be helpful. Please direct questions to Sarah England or Ed B., either “live” after church on this or any Sunday, or Ed B. at jeeko@comcast.net any time.

ANNUAL ALL-BOARDS MEETING - September 25 -

Because of the All-Boards Meeting there will not be a regular coffee hour after worship. If you are not on a board, please gather in the sanctuary for a time of fellowship and to greet visitors.

HCC’s 175th Anniversary. Happy Jubilee 175!

Our church will be celebrating our 175th anniversary since our founding in 1847, starting this December and throughout 2023. Debbie Edmundson and Kathi Blair are co-chairing the event task force. Julianne Mehegan, our church Historian, will be key in sharing old stories and reminding us about our fascinating past throughout this next year. At our last meeting, we identified several areas of celebration, (an outreach component, coffee hour activities, children’s activities, a 4th of July float, a fall gala and much more!). There was a great deal of enthusiasm and excitement around this celebration.  The next meeting with be on Tuesday September 27th in the Library, for those who can make it in person at 7:00 pm. For those who would like to attend via zoom:Zoom.us- Jubliee Meeting #3

GREEN TIPS FOR THE WEEK:

                  FOR A GREEN SCHOOL YEAR

  1. Opt for REUSABLE LUNCH BAGS and BOTTLES, instead of paper sacks & single-use plastic bottles
  2. Teach your kids to clean up sports fields after activities (and to remember to bring their reusable water bottles home!!)
  3. Purchase in bulk and use resealable containers vs. single-serve packages.
  4. Use eco-friendly school supplies. Check these out at this Green America website:
