From HV's Teachers: Students' report cards are filled in and ready to go. Report cards might show N/A ('Not Applicables') in some categories these first marking periods as HV's curriculum will spool out through the year. Those categories will be assessed later in the year when that subject matter/new skills are reached and assessment becomes applicable.

HV & A/C

The 102 ºF heat of the 10/24/17 record-breaking scorcher of a school day was tough to take. The HVPFO will dialogue with NMUSD in hopes of bringing forward the installation of A/C and playground shade structures at HV; tinting windows; and anything else we can do to improve our facility for HV Students & Staff.
HVPFO Result!

Thanks to last month's Membership's vote, HV will hire an additional instructional aide to support the Library and Innovation Lab - bringing the number of aides on campus up to 4. Awesome!

To cast future votes, join our PFO for $10 or with any contribution to our Helmets & Horns/Capital Campaign.

Michelle Lebron, our HVPFO Community Outreach Co-ordinator, has wrangled a special opportunity for TEN HV FAMILIES of older children (4-6th Graders) to volunteer in person at Families Forward , Irvine THIS SATURDAY (11/18) from 8AM-12PM. Please reply to Michelle to volunteer then - passing out Thanksgiving Baskets.

Families Forward looks out for families in need from the 55 Freeway south to San Clemente - and the foothills to the ocean.
HV Community Outreach: Angel Tree/Holiday Gifts

We're good at collecting for Thanksgiving Baskets! Now, like last year, let's accomplish one more annual campaign with Families Forward to spread warmth and holiday cheer to local families in need in December.

This week (!) we'll put up an Angel Tree in the MPR. By Thursday the tree will be decorated with ornament tags each providing a family number identifying a name, age, and wish list of items ranging from $10-$30. Visit the tree in the MPR; select a tag; write your name and email next to the family number/item selected on the spreadsheet there; shop; and then return your donated gift unwrapped to the Angel Tree Gift Box which will also be in the MPR. Please include the original ornament tag (or label your gift with your family number) and provide a gift bag or wrapping paper for your item. Check off the sheet to note that your selected tag was returned with your gift. All donations will be DUE by Thursday, 12/12 to ensure that all gifts will be sorted, collected, and delivered by Families Forward to families in need in time for Christmas!

HV students might wish to make holiday cards to be passed out with the gifts. Students might address their cards to one of the children or the family that they/you've adopted.

Thank you in advance for your support during this holiday season. Please contact Michelle Lebron with any questions.
Enjoy a Coffee & Doughnuts in the MPR this Thursday or Friday as You Select a Tag!:
