Every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood and about 36,000 blood donations are needed each month to support patients nationwide. Resolve to be a first-time or frequent blood donor this year and give blood during National Blood Donor Month.
Church of the Holy Communion will host a blood drive on Sunday, January 30 in the Athletic & Wellness Center. Contact Rev. Hester to schedule an appointment, or go to donors.vitalant.org, search by Blood Drive Code: HolyCommunion.

Gratitude for Groceries
CONTACT: Hester Mathes

Thank you to everyone who brought canned hams to include as a treat in the St. Luke’s Food Pantry holiday bags. Even a small treat goes a long way in lifting spirits this time of year! Thank you also to those who contributed to providing Kroger Gift Cards to the families of Emmanuel Center. These grocery funds enabled families to purchase the perishable food needed to round out their meals over the holidays. Both organizations have expressed gratitude for Holy Communion’s continued involvement in the midst of the ever evolving restrictions and needs of the pandemic.
Update: Aiding our New Neighbors
CONTACT: Judy Horning

In addition to forming “Good Neighbor” Teams to build friendship with refugees being settled in Memphis, our community is invited to support our new neighbors by helping provide needed household items to get them settled into their new homes. You can find needed items at the following Amazon Wish List: https://tinyurl.com/CHCGoodNeighbors

Using this link will ship the items directly to World Relief, who we are partnering with for this outreach initiative; they currently have a pretty good stock of bathroom items. Purchasing an item in order to help a refugee family get settled into their new life in Memphis could make a lovely and meaningful gift in a loved one’s honor this holiday season!

World Relief is also seeking people who might be willing to help refugees improve their English skills by being a Conversation Partner, or those who might be able to drive folks occasionally to appointments, or even if anyone might be able to provide short term housing as World Relief gets the newly-arrived settled into longer term housing.

Please contact Judy Horning at amslerhorning822@gmail.com for more information or to express interest.

Easter-to-Easter Challenge
CURRENT TOTAL: $291,235.16

The Easter-to-Easter Challenge continues to close the gap on our capital construction project – the difference between what we spent and what we expect to receive.

Our goal is simple: Finishing our season of construction debt-free. Because of the way this challenge is structured, the math is just as simple: Every dollar you give brings us one dollar closer to our goal. With all of our interest expenses covered for the first year by an anonymous parishioner family, every gift has its full impact.

Give today by sending a check to the parish office with “Easter-to-Easter Challenge” written in the memo line, or by clicking “GIVE” on our website (www.holycommunion.org).
