CELEBRATE LOSAR, THE TIBETAN NEW YEAR
Losar is the Tibetan New Year, when families gather to celebrate hopes for a better coming year. The first two weeks of the Tibetan year are particularly powerful spiritually, and auspicious for practice.
Losar falls on Tuesday, February 5, when we'll hold a special guru puja at noon. Sunday, February 10, we will celebrate in the gompa with treats, song and dance.
Losar ushers in the Days of Miracles, a 15-day period when karmic results of all our actions are multiplied. Our Tara practice in February falls within this period, so there's lots of energy in participating in this practice!
• Tue, Feb 19: All day,
Day of Miracles - Monlam Chenmo
;
Noon, group reading Sanghata Sutra; 7:00p, group reading, Golden Light Sutra; those who have taken the Eight Mahayana Precepts previously from a qualified teacher are encouraged to take them at home at "first light."watch for further details

Thanks go out to this week to Lauri Robbins for inspiring us all to donate and deliver our merit boxes this season. Over the past 16 years, The Merit Box project has collected and distributed more than $1,000,000 to FPMT projects around the world. Our own dear Kadampa Center has received extremely helpful grants for 4 of the 5 Light of the Path retreats! Thank you Lauri for making this project a success!

When playing a familiar piece on the piano it's fascinating to feel your fingers move to keys without awareness. Years of repetition make for simplicity of movement that is comforting. When reciting a memorized prayer, one can almost feel the lips move with this same awareness. It takes less energy to do something that has become part of our wiring. This reminded me of ...
