"
When I talk of being detached, what I mean is to be simpler, more easy-going. Detachment doesn’t mean totally renouncing everything. It means that you loosen your grip and be more relaxed.
"

Spring Family Dharma Classes
- May 5-Jun 16 •
Join us for 3 weeks of Family Dharma Discussions. The subject matter and format for Family Dharma Discussions is:
How do we live the Dharma at our work and school?
Come discuss with other parents and hear what your kids have to say about:
- How to say what you believe
- How to treat real live bullies
- How to decide whether to play a video game or watch a show
We'll start with an intention together; have a facilitator for the children's discussion, while parents have their own. We'll come together, find out if our answers align, and share our perspectives!
This is not drop-off programming. Parents attend with their children.
Summer Programming
|
|
For the 5th consecutive year, Kadampa Center's Family Program brings you Family Dharma Camp. This year's camp event, themed "
Seeking Wisdom with Joyful Effort
," will be held Fri-Sun, Aug 23-25 at Camp Agape in Fuquay-Varina, NC. With Geshe Gelek and Geshe Sangpo's advice, we continue our third year studying the Six Perfections and go a step further, diligently persevering wisdom. Learn antidotes to laziness and reconnect with the intention and goals of your Dharma practice. Along with the practice and mantra of compassion, we'll be unstoppable Bodhisattvas in the making!
|
|
Camp programming will be designed for children ages 5-14 with some concurrent mediation / discussion sessions for parents.

The needs increase during the summer months when children are home from school and do not receive the school free breakfasts and lunches.
Bring your food item donations to the Collection Barrel in Kadampa Center's lobby. No glass jars, please.

- WHEN: May-June
- WHERE: Collection Barrel in Lobby

There's no experience needed to participated in the Habitat Interfaith Build Day, to be held Saturday, June 15. Mark your calendars and save the date! Join a special team and do good, feel good. All that is required are a willing heart and hands. For more information, or to sign-up, contact

Thanks go out this week to Kolleen Mitchell for donating several of her lovely wraps to our collection. It's nice to have something to throw around your shoulders if you get cool in the gompa or to wear for modesty if need be. We love to be able to offer items like wraps and footies to our visitors and members. Anyone is welcome to bring more! Thanks Kolleen for your kind generosity.

Yesterday in the gompa we bid farewell to Geshe-la w
ith lots of love and laughter,
until late July. He began teaching on the 8 Verses of Thought Transformation and promised to finish upon his return. The interwebs are full of challenges these days from “Cinnamon” to “10,000 steps a day.” 10,000, really? Maybe we can take...
