BOUNDLESS HEART: THE BUDDHA'S PATH OF KINDNESS, COMPASSION, JOY AND EQUIANIMITY
~ By Christina Feldman
Compassion, kindness, equanimity, and joy are not only the fruits of the awakened life but also the path to it: attitudes of mind that can be cultivated by anyone willing to set the intention for doing so.

Gratitude is feeling appreciation and showing thankfulness for what others have done for us.
Towards the end of the month, we revisit the kindness of parents when we prepare for Mother's and Father's Day in early May and June, respectively. In Tibetan Buddhism, the holiday of Lhabab Düchen is a celebration of when Shakyamuni Buddha came back to the human realm to teach his own mother and so, in a way, is a Tibetan Mother's Day.
~ Christy Batts, Family Program Coordinator
[Lhabab Duchen, one of the four great holy days of the Tibetan calendar, is celebrated in November.]

Many of the
Prison Project workshop participants have questions about meditation and Buddhism that cannot be addressed during our limited workshop time. It doesn't take a Buddhist scholar to write to an inmate, just someone with a warm heart and willingness to keep a conversation going. Most inmates want someone to share their meditation experiences with, and get a bit of practical advice. Send letters using pen and paper and be of great service!
