" Good human qualities… honesty, sincerity, a good heart, cannot be bought with money, nor can they be produced by machines, but only by the mind itself. We call this the inner light, or God’s blessing, or human quality. This is the essence of mankind."

~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama

'DHARMA CAMP 2018: PATIENCE' A SUCCESS
This year's Family Dharma Camp was held Aug 24-26 at the beautiful Agape campus in Fuquay-Varina. Twenty families and more than 70 people enjoyed a weekend together learning about Patience, one of the Six Perfections fundamental to a Bodhichitta Attitude.

Children learned various methods to dispel anger from young adult counselors with strong practices of their own, who presented unique meditations through Jataka Tale presentations. Thank you to Nathaniel, Miranda, Bella, Katie, Kenn and Emily for caring and sharing!
Adults learned how to practice patience through discussion and workshops. Venerable Khando-la led participants through lessons in patience, and Dorje Khadro and Animal Liberation practices. Sandy and Dan provided experiential wisdom and fielded questions. Resident expert Celina shared her refreshing research, and Georgia and Denise shared their passions and reminded all to move mindfully. Many thanks to all!
This year's event was the second in a five-year series of Family Dharma camps in which Geshe Gelek recommended the focus be on the Perfections for a Bodhichitta Attitude. Thanks to all Dharma Camp participants for their efforts to create a comfortable and safe community. We hope to see you in 2019 when we'll study another perfection for a bodhichitta attitude – Joyful Effort!
