The First Commandment
You Shall Have No Other Gods Before Me
God established His authority with the children of Israel when He rescued them from the Egyptians. Coming out of Egypt, the Israelites must have considered monotheism (worshipping one god) a rather radical concept. The Egyptians worshipped many deities.
As the world shrinks and our darling children will bump into various religions and humanists - all being disguised as diversity. God doesn’t stand for it. He says, “I am the Lord, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45:1:18b).
This week’s lesson seeks to equip our darling children with spiritual detectors
as they walk through a new era of potential pitfalls. The children will discover that out of the profusion of beliefs, idols, and religious practices, God stands alone as worthy to be worshipped.
