A word from Art
Pray like it matters

Jesus said in John 15 that we needed, more than anything, to be connected to the "True Vine," which Jesus identified as Himself. Prayer is like oxygen in the spirit world; we need it to function. And in Luke 22, it was as if Jesus was breathing in deeply before taking the big plunge at Calvary. Jesus was praying like it mattered, because it did. This Sunday we will close out our series on prayer, hoping that we too can pray like Jesus . . . hoping that we can pray like it matters.

Please take a moment to sign up if you plan to join us for IN-PERSON worship or in the PARKING LOT at our new worship hall, located at 2150 Paxton Dr., Lilburn, Georgia, 30047.

We'll also be ONLINE at 10:30 a.m. for those who prefer to worship at home.

Michael Bebout and Joel Montgomery named new deacons at MC3
MC3 is pleased to announce that Michael Bebout and Joel Montgomery have accepted calls to serve as deacons in the church.

Michael is a lifelong member of MC3 Church. He has served in multiple roles in the church over the years--everything from leading our children's ministry and working with the student ministry to maintaining the church's website and spearheading various outreach efforts. Michael also works as an EMT for a private ambulance service in South Atlanta.

Joel and his family—wife Kim, son Van and daughter Bella—came to MC3 in 2015 after moving to Atlanta where Joel works for the national Center for Disease Control. Prior to coming to MC3, Joel and Kim were active in churches in Nairobi, Kenya, and Lima, Peru, where he was stationed on overseas assignments with the CDC. Joel and his family have been actively involved in various church activities since coming to MC3, including communion deliveries to our shut-ins. They were pointed to the church by former MC3 member Beth Skaggs, who worked with Joel, before her family accepted an overseas assignment with the CDC. “We joined MC3 after visiting a few months and have been happy here ever since,” Joel says. “It is an amazing church family.
Kingdom Kids
The Fifth Commandment
“Honor your father and your mother..."

Gone are the days of “Father Knows Best” (a 50-60-s television program). Now we have Lisa Simpson reprimanding her weird dad, Homer. Gone are the days of Arthur Maxwell’s stories and books about loving direction from a wise parent. Many of our children come from single-parent, blended, or other non-traditional two-parent families. Children today are bombarded with books, media, and friends criticizing the role of parents. The word and concept of “honor” are completely foreign to many children today.

Even parents are confused as to what’s best for their children’s psychological well-being. They ask, for example, if kids should express their anger or learn to hold their tongues. As always, God’s ways are the healthiest --- mentally, physically, and spiritually. Polite, respectful children are not a byproduct of chance. Basically, children must be taught everything. As Christian educators and parents, we must teach God’s way: Honor your father and mother. Our job is akin to pushing snow back up a mountain in the wake of an avalanche. Perhaps this lesson will help you guide children along God’s path.

Our main point will be: Honor means respect and obey.
