A word from Art

Sermon Title: Be Faithful
Scripture: James 5

What an incredible Sunday! We had two services yesterday taking place at the same time (digital and parking lot service). Big thanks to Keri Duncan and Melinda Wilson for pushing out the digital service. And a huge thanks to the Worship and Tech Team for all their work in the sultry August heat. What a blessing you all are!

This Sunday, we will close out our study by looking at James 5. James does an incredible job wrapping up his letter encouraging us to "Be Faithful." We will discover five action points that we are called to put in our spiritual arsenal. So join us Sunday as we discover the things that we should be doing in the faith.

Previewing this Sunday's lesson

The following is an introduction and excerpt from this Sunday’s COVID article, “God cares about Grief and Loss.” We will email the article to you Friday, and it is our prayer that this series will be helpful to you and yours.

“Painful things happen to all of us in this life. During this pandemic, there is a lot of uncertainty and grief over the losses we’re experiencing. Losses such as lost ability to gather as a church, lost jobs, lost connections with friends and families, and sometimes loss of a loved one to COVID, all cause some level of grief.

As Christians and as parents, we may feel that we have to hide our grief from other people. Yet having the joy of the Lord does not mean we must deny our pain and grief.

In this session, you will introduce your children to five stages of the grieving process: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. The stages leading up to acceptance may bring intense, uncomfortable emotions. Some Christians may think these stages are extreme or unnecessary. This is not the case. Each stage is a natural, even healthy, step in grieving and healing.

Think back on losses you have experienced in the past couple of months. Have you had the space and time to process your grief, or did you feel you had to hide your pain? Spend time now allowing God to comfort you. He knows what you need. He knows your thoughts and emotions, even the ones buried under the surface.”

We're not collecting cookies
but . . .
Emory Breadhouse is one of MC3’s mission partners and they do an outstanding job ministering to students at Emory University. Usually, at this time of year, we would be collecting cookies to help Bread provide a bag of cookies to all returning students as well as make them available to students visiting their coffeehouse throughout the week. This year, because of COVID-19, cookie donations cannot be accepted BUT gift cards to Kroger or Sam’s would be most appreciated to offset their cookie purchases.

Please email your gift cards to: 1227 Clifton Rd, Atlanta, GA 30307.
Share the joy of Christmas through Angel Bags
It’s time again to begin filling up Angel Bags for delivery to children and senior adults in Mexico over the Christmas season.

Bags may be picked up at the church office. Please touch base with Vicki Calhoun to make arrangements. (Email Vicki)

Here is a printable list of suggested items to include in the bags. Also, please specify if the bag is for a boy or girl and the appropriate age.

In lieu of filling a bag, you may make a monetary contribution to SOAR Ministries. Send the checks to MC3 and we will make sure they are delivered to SOAR.
August is our month to fill up the food pantry at Lilburn Co-Op
August is MC3's month to help stock the food pantry at Lilbun Co-Op. Please bring UNPERISHABLE food and school supply items either to the church office or drop them off directly at the co-op.

So many in our community are hurting and this is yet another opportunity to help!
