Book a Tee Time!

We have been very fortunate to have the membership's support in removing 200+ dead, dying and destructive trees from the course over the past several years. We believe now is the time to begin repopulating certain areas of the course. In doing so, we also want to offer an opportunity to honor any members who have gone before us with both a permanent and growing tribute. Members may design a Memorial marker (seen above), with Board approval on tree species & location. The Club will then coordinate purchase and installation of tree and memorial. All net proceeds will go directly to Capital Improvement funds.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Dear Members,

We would like to share an opportunity to honor the memory of our son, Tyler Ross Jones, who passed away at the age of 26. In Tyler’s memory, we have established a Memorial Fund and are sponsoring the Santa Claus House in partnership with the City of Mattoon and Lightworks. Tyler had a deep love for family, children, and Christmas, and operating the Santa House reflects his affection for the holiday season and the Mattoon community.

The Santa House, which was beautifully restored, opened to the public for the first time in 2022. Families are welcome to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus free of charge, with each family enjoying a private visit where children can share their Christmas wishes. Last year, members of MG&CC and their families graciously volunteered as greeters, helping us to make these visits even more special by welcoming each family and ensuring a smooth, memorable experience.

This year, we are again seeking volunteers. Shifts will be brief—just 1.5 to 2 hours—and members can sign up as individuals or with their families. Greeting the children and their families brings such joy, and the reward is seeing the happiness on the faces of the kids as they visit Santa and Mrs. Claus.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Bob at Mattoonbob45@gmail.com or call 217-254-6428. Bob will manage the schedule, coordinate reminders, and provide all details for your role as a greeter.

Thank you in advance for helping us bring joy to the community during this special season.

Warm regards,

Judy, Bob, Garth, and Mandy Jones
