Learning to Pivot

There is a word that has become popular and taken on new meaning this year. It is the word "pivot." Individuals and organizations talk about the importance of learning how to, and the need to, "pivot." It is the ability to move, turn swiftly, adjust to a new position, and it is true that during these many months we have had to do a lot of pivoting. If we choose not to pivot, then we risk stagnation. No one wants or desires that, at least I don't think we do.

After seven months of being in this pandemic, we will again pivot and return to worship in the Sanctuary at 9 a.m. on Sunday. It will be glorious to be together again in our beautiful Sanctuary. For those who prefer the great outdoors, we will also be offering worship in the Park at 11:15 a.m. So, this Sunday, we will offer two in-person worship services! It will be a busy and wonderful day as we once again pivot to a new normal.

This Sunday is also another installment of our One Faith Many Voices series as we celebrate Gospel Sunday. Though congregational singing is discouraged, we will be able to enjoy the wonderful voices of our gospel singers. It will be a day of uplifting music, whether we are in the Sanctuary or the Park. For those who either are not able to attend or do not feel comfortable attending yet, the services will also be available through LiveStream and Facebook Live.

We cannot forget that all this pivoting is possible because of your generosity. We are in our second week of Stewardship Faithful Together. Stewardship is not just about money or giving to a budget (which is important); it is also about growing spiritually and impacting lives. Money is a tool to be used to transform lives and communities. When we give of our financial resources, we have the ability to make a significant and long-lasting impact on someone's life and in our community. Yes, our financial giving helps to pay the bills, but it is also used to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Commitment Sunday is October 25. My hope and prayer are that as we consider our ministry needs for 2021, we will all pivot towards extravagant generosity.

Faithfully yours,

Children will also be able to present music and skits monthly at family suppers and in Sunday worship (in small groups).

Chapel Choir welcomes all 6-12th graders. We rehearse on Wednesdays from 6-7:30PM and have small group gatherings from 3:30-5PM on Sundays in the Pavilion.

Even during these uncertain times, we are still safely learning  powerful and transformative pieces of sacred music, sharing in devotions, and preparing for our many expeditions throughout the year, such as our Waterfall Hikes and our annual Summer Mission and Music Tour!
