June 13, 2019

Two weeks ago, I was in Charleston, SC for Sammy’s graduation. It was an exciting time as his entire family gathered to celebrate him and his huge accomplishments. We cheered for him, smiled and took many pictures. It was all we hoped it would be except Charleston was experiencing record breaking temperatures. The high was 100⁰ on the day of the graduation. The day before it was 101⁰.

It’s graduation season, the end of the school year and summer begins next week. Congratulations to all (parents, teachers, extended family, neighbors, etc.) for making through another school year. We celebrate you! Many kids seem to be super excited because for them it’s a time to enjoy the pool, do yard work 😊 and play video games. It’s a season to relax and get rejuvenated.

I hope as you travel this summer you do not run into record breaking temperatures as we did but before you go, we hope to see you in worship. We are preparing for many new and exciting things and we don’t want you to miss it.

In our traditional worship service, we will focus on Luke 15:11-32 with a reflection entitled “ Daddy Issues.” In our 8:30 service, Jessica Irish will sing a solo for our anthem, The Lord’s Prayer . In our 9:30 and 11:00 services our Women’s Choir will sing our anthem, Our Father and Praise in Motion will dance to Good, Good Father by Chris Tomlin. Tommy Suh will lead our Risk Nontraditional Service in the Lord’s Youth Center. His text is Luke 15:11-32 with a sermon entitled, “ Prodigal Son or Prodigal Father? That depends…

We appreciate all that you bring to worship each Sunday and we look forward to worshiping with you soon.

Messiah is hosting a worship service led by Fireproof
Fireproof youth praise band ministry from Holly Springs NC. The event will be held on Tuesday, June 18 starting at 6 pm with a free community dinner followed by service at 7 pm in the Youth Center.
The group from Sunrise UMC will lead a service entitled “God is Bigger”. It will feature songs, a skit, and a sermon message that highlight the greatness of God. If you would like to attend dinner, please RSVP by sending an email with your name and number attending to info@messiahumc.org .

The mission of Fireproof ministry is two fold. One of the goals is to nurture the budding faith of the youth and encourage them to grow deeper in faith as they grow older in life. In addition, the group also wants to share the love of Jesus Christ and encourage others through their ministry. Fireproof ministry has existed for over a decade. It started with four singers and has grown to two full bands. The group on Tour is a combination of the middle school and high school groups. Fireproof has led music at large conference youth gatherings, at local churches, and has impacted communities throughout their previous Mission & Music Tours.
We Need 2 More Host Families to host the Fireproof Youth Choir . They will need to be picked up at 8:30 pm from Messiah and dropped off at Messiah by 7 am on Wednesday June 19. Signup now at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080E4AABAE28A75-hosting
