“Can you tell us about a time when you were in a season of fear, and the Lord strengthened you to depend on Him and out of that season you experienced His faithfulness?”

I remember when I first started my job at the School for the Blind I was so scared and fearful of failure. I felt like I wasn’t ready and that I wouldn’t be what the kids needed. I let my failure take preference over what God’s opinion is of me. For awhile I let this weigh heavy on me and became obsessive of my work and prioritized it over God. I knew that God had given me this opportunity for a reason, but I continued to let the fear speak loudly. It wasn’t until I had been working there for a little over a month that I really began to listen to the Lord and in my prayers and quiet time with Him remembered that in times of fear it is beneficial to intentionally think about God and seeking “God moments” in the day. I tried to get to work early to pray for the day and my students. I took a few minutes during my planning period to breathe and pray as well. After this, what at first felt like a David and Goliath situation (figuratively and physically since I’m petite in stature) began to reveal more of my Heavenly Father to me in different ways each day. To this day, through this job, though challenging, God provides many avenues for me to see Him in the day and show others Him when I put my fear aside and replace it with faith .
