Spiritual Retreat

Have you ever set aside a few hours just to spend time with the Lord? It is a spiritual discipline that reaps benefits that make the time commitment pale in comparison. Consider taking the opportunity to do that with us this Saturday, January 29. This is a relaxed time where we gather and receive some guidance and instruction from Andy and then spread out across the church. You and the Lord determine how you spend your time (read, pray, journal, walk). Don’t be intimidated by this time alone with the Lord - you cannot get it wrong. It is your time and we are confident you will find it refreshing, encouraging, and meaningful. It's not too late to sign up! Email souten@mitchellroad.org to reserve your spot.

Engaging the World
Global Spotlight: Stuck Together in Brussels
written by missionary, Katy B*, who serves with MTW
in Brussels, Belgium

“We live on a typical Belgian residential street, an avenue lined with row houses… Walking down the street and observing each individual house provides a tour of different architectural styles. Each house is unique and has its own character.

It occurred to me one day as I was walking down the street that this collection of connected-yet-uniquely-individual row houses is perhaps a good picture of the Church. As I walk down my street and contemplate the lovely architecture of the houses and admire each one as a unique construction, I’m reminded to value the similar diversity displayed in my local church—and in the global Church—and to see each uniquely individual person as part of the connected body of Christ. In God’s good design, however, we come together to form a very real unit called the church body.”

Local Spotlight: A Note of Thanks from World Relief

"I wanted to email you and everyone at Mitchell Road personally and thank you for your generous giving since 2019. We don’t take for granted that you chose to give to us to make an impact on the lives of refugees and other immigrants here in the Upstate. We also would like to thank you for your willingness to create Good Neighbor Teams to come around two families. These teams have helped in creating a community of welcome for these families as they integrate into the Upstate.

Because of your generosity, and that of others in the community, we had a banner year in 2021. Our office doubled in size, our growing team of 75 volunteers came alongside over 70 refugees in the last few months of the year alone. But what encourages me the most is seeing individuals welcomed by the Upstate, empowered in community, and transformed through new friendships as they rebuild their lives here."

-Brandon Baughn, Office Director of World Relief Upstate SC

Please continue to pray for our two Good Neighbor Teams and for the families they walk alongside.
