Youth Group Serving Dinner at Life Bridge this Sunday, Nov. 4th
The High School Youth group will be preparing and serving dinner at Life Bridge this Sunday evening.   If your child is planning on going on the service trip in April, they are required to serve at least three times. Please keep that in mind and look ahead to the Sundays that will work for them.  We are also asking that a parent of any child planning on attending the April service trip also volunteer at least one Sunday.  We serve the first Sunday of each month.

This Week in Children's Church
The Children will go directly to the classroom and will join their families for communion after the sermon.
Our class leaders will be Barbara Day and Holly Jannell.

During November our theme is Kindness.  This Sunday we will talk about how we can "Love your neighbor as yourself".  Where do we see kindness and love from others, our neighbors?

The Children of Children's Church have received many acts of kindness this past week.
  • Julia Kautz lead an activity of "Loving your neighbor" with the image of a plant bulb that spreads its roots growing, going deeper, just like members of our church family.  When we lend our hearts and hands to one another, sharing gifts and talents we can all grow.  The children made up gifts of Paper White bulbs to give to a friend, neighbor, loved one.
  • Dara VanRemortel joined us and lead us in singing songs of the earth, peace, of thanks, celebrating our Season of Creation.
  • Bill Duvel made 13 stools for Children's Church, a wonderful gift of his time and talents.
We are feeling Loved! Thank you!

Next Sunday, November 11th is Family Worship, there will be no Children's Church.

We are in need of volunteers for Sunday mornings, please contact me  or use our signupgenius to sign up,  kwkilty@gmail.com.

Marblehead Food Pantry
November is Our Month to Stock the Shelves!
As we have done for many years, ONC has made a commitment to fill the shelves of the Marblehead Food Pantry during the month of November. During this month of Thanksgiving, it is a wonderful opportunity for us to show how thankful we are for the blessings we have been given and for us to make sure that others in the community, many of whom are less fortunate, will also be provided for. At each of the Sunday services, brown bags will be available, together with a list of suggested items to fill the bags. Filled bags may either be returned to the Narthex, or if it is more convenient, left in the hall way at Stacey Street. The Outreach Ministry Board will be responsible for delivering the bags to the Marblehead Food Pantry.

Suggested items: canned fruit and vegetables, canned/bottled/packaged fruit juices, coffee, tea bags, canned/bottled nuts, pasta, rice, pasta mixes, pesto, ragu, soups, gravy, canned tuna or chicken, salad dressings, crackers, cookies, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, soaps, laundry & personal items, diapers, shaving equipment, toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorant. Any non-perishable items are always appreciated. If you have any queries please contact Lynda Hare at 781-639-0107 or hares8carrots@hotmail.com.

Thank you in advance for your generosity! Lynda Hare on behalf of the Outreach Ministry Board.

Super Saturday Conference Update
Each spring and fall, the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ holds a Super Saturday event - a full-day of skill building, networking and discussing best practices. Each event offers numerous workshops, a keynote address, worship, a marketplace of vendors and ideas and an opportunity for church leaders, both clergy and lay, to network with one another. On this past Super Saturday, in Framingham, October 20, Karen Kilty offered children's activities, and participated in the intergenerational faith formation theme and worship. Karla and Rev. Laura Ruth Jarrett of Hope Central Church in Jamaica Plain led a workshop on Singing for Justice and the Power of Voice in movements for change. We sang favorite hymns, protest songs, songs from other cultures and faiths. It was a full and busy day! The next Super Saturday is March 19, 2019.
Greeters are Needed!
The Community Life Ministry Board is looking for Greeters to host the Greeter/Welcome Table in the Narthex before the 10:00 am church services. Hosts greet people, offer nametags to those who need them, and help direct new members/visitors who may need assistance. We ask those hosting the Greeter/Welcome Table to please arrive at 9:30 am for set up. Individuals, friends, families, everyone is welcome to host the Greeter Table. It's fun! Get to know your church family while providing a valuable service! If you have questions, please contact Linda Davis at pldavis.pd@gmail.com, 781-639-0405. Thank you so much!
