Our Vision Statement
Old North Church is an inclusive Christian Community called to bring to life God's love and grace by sharing the gospel for this time and place; extending the hospitality Christ showed; embodying God's love and compassion to those in need; and growing together in our understanding and experience of the Holy Spirit at work in our midst.

This Week In Childrens Church
Dara VanRemoortel will join us this Sunday and lead us in song. Along with readings that offer us ways to prepare us to grow, we begin "Tending the Garden" on our Lenten journey. Long before any signs of spring can be seen, long before the harvest can be gathered, the earth prepares itself for growth. The water of melting snow breaks up the clumps of earth. The seeds blown about from previous seasons soak in the moisture needed to germinate. Growth begins before we can see it. This week we can learn to look for the signs of growth within ourselves.
Children's Church Giving for Heifer International
Over the next 5 weeks we will be gathering change for our Lenten Project for Giving. We have money Arks and Heifer's resources for learning about how we can help. They will be available on Sunday mornings in the Children's Church classroom.
2019 Stewardship Update

Mardi Gras Celebration Thank You

We just have to give a shout out to all the outstanding people who contributed their time and talents to make this a roaring fun Mardi Gras celebration. . . the decoration makers as well those who decorated; the many cooks, the "clean-up crew" (made up of most who attended and just pitched in to reclaim the Parish Hall at the end). And, of course, the kitchen queens who had the place spotless (mostly) before leaving. What a wonderful group of people in our community!!

Are You a Caregiver for a Loved One With Alzheimer's or Dementia?
The Gathering of Caregivers and their Loved Ones with Alzheimer's or Dementia will be held on Thursday, March 21st 7-9:00 pm at Old North Church, Stacey Street, Marblehead. Please join us for conversation and support. Our feature this month will be an education program by the Alzheimer's Association. Communication is more than just talking and listening - it's also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. As people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. Join us to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer's, learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease. Caregivers meet in the Great Room of the Old North Church office on Stacey Street. Care for your loved ones, a singalong with Dara VanRemoortel and other Old North volunteers is available across the hall in the Beals Room. This month we are asking people to RSVP by calling the Old North Church office, 781-631-1244. Also, please note this meeting is 2 hours in length, instead of the normal 90 minutes. We hope you can join us!

Welcome The Stranger -  A Partnership of the Church of St. Andrews, Old North Church and Temple Emanuel
The Big Move
Danie and family moved from Salem to 19 Creesy Street, Marblehead on February 27th.  Danie found and secured this apartment on her own and took all the necessary steps to make it happen.  The new apartment has been totally refurnished with new appliances. It is on the first floor (compared to the 4th floor in Salem), has two bed rooms, heat and air conditioning and a storage space in the basement. The elementary school is a short walk; at least until they combine all the elementary schools into a new one at the Bell School sometime in the future. There is a bus stop two minutes from the apartment to take Danie near the Lafayette House, where she is a Nurse's Aide. 8 Volunteers and the able assistance of Hooper Goodwin (plus two assistants with strong backs) facilitated the move. Reverend Clyde Elledge of St. Andrews blessed the apartment following Haitian tradition. New neighbors in the apartment building welcomed them with flowers, a new bed and offers to help them unpack. Thanks for making this family's cultural, financial independence and adjustment to the USA possible. This is a giant step towards building a life for themselves in America.
Welcome the Stranger Steering Committee:

Meet Your Pastor-Parish Relations Committee

Pastor-Parish Relations Committee (PPRC) left to right: Lynda Hare, Susan Anselmo Stone, Holly Jannell, Rob Gorman.

The Leadership Board recently reconstituted our Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.  The primary function of the PPRC is to support and maintain an open relationship between the congregation and the ordained, settled clergy of Old North Church. The committee's focus is not so much on the "work" of the church as on the "workings" of it.  They are charged with maintaining a healthy and productive relationship between congregants and the clergy which will enable the tasks of ministry to be carried out faithfully and joyfully, with a maximum level of satisfaction and understanding, and a minimum level of friction and stress. As such, their role is to listen objectively to the hopes, dreams, and concerns of the congregation AND the clergy with the goal of facilitating open, honest communication in both directions. Our thanks to Lynda, Susan, Holly and Rob for agreeing to serve. If you would like to contact any member of the committee, their contact information is:
Rob Gorman: rob.gorman@comcast.net 617-538-4948
Holly Jannell: hjannell@verizon.net 781-631-2550
Lynda Hare: hares8carrots@hotmail.com 781-631-2550

Greeters are Needed!
The Community Life Ministry Board is looking for Greeters to host the Greeter/Welcome Table in the Narthex before the 10:00 am church services. Hosts greet people, offer nametags to those who need them, and help direct new members/visitors who may need assistance. We ask those hosting the Greeter/Welcome Table to please arrive at 9:30 am for set up. Individuals, friends, families, everyone is welcome to host the Greeter Table. It's fun! Get to know your church family while providing a valuable service! If you have questions, please contact Linda Davis at pldavis.pd@gmail.com, 781-639-0405. Thank you so much!
