This Week in Children's Church
Jesus on the Mountain based on Luke 9:28-43
This Sunday, we will revisit Jesus at his birth, his baptism, his travel home to Nazareth, calling his disciples, his teaching of love and forgiveness and finally on to the Mountain with Peter, James, and John to pray. What will we
find there?

This Sunday is Communion Sunday. The children will go directly to the classroom; we will go down to the sanctuary for communion with our church family.
Ash Wednesday - March 6
Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, March 6.  We will offer a brief service of imposition of ashes at 7:00 am.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, which is the 40 day period of devotion, fasting, and preparation for Easter. Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of blessing ashes made from palm branches blessed on the previous year's Palm Sunday, and placing them on the heads of participants to the accompaniment of the words "Repent, and believe in the Gospel" or "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return".
ONC Coffee/Book Discussion March 6
On Wednesday, March 6th, from 8:30 to 10:00 AM, the second discussion of the new book How Democracies Die by Harvard government professors Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt will be held in the ONC Coffee Shop, Reading and Discussion Room (the Beals Room of the 8 Stacy Street office building).  The focus will be on Chapters 4-6 of nine chapters. You are invited to attend, regardless of how many chapters you have read.
Cods in Bloom!
March 30th is almost here and the plans for our fabulous Old North Auction, "Cods in Bloom," are taking shape.  The Committee is hoping to see all of you at this gala event at the Gerry 5, 210 Beacon St, MHD from 7-10 PM. Meet Your Pastor-Parish Relations Committee

Pastor-Parish Relations Committee (PPRC) left to right: Lynda Hare, Susan Anselmo Stone, Holly Jannell, Rob Gorman.

The Leadership Board recently reconstituted our Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.  The primary function of the PPRC is to support and maintain an open relationship between the congregation and the ordained, settled clergy of Old North Church. The committee's focus is not so much on the "work" of the church as on the "workings" of it.  They are charged with maintaining a healthy and productive relationship between congregants and the clergy which will enable the tasks of ministry to be carried out faithfully and joyfully, with a maximum level of satisfaction and understanding, and a minimum level of friction and stress. As such, their role is to listen objectively to the hopes, dreams, and concerns of the congregation AND the clergy with the goal of facilitating open, honest communication in both directions. Our thanks to Lynda, Susan, Holly and Rob for agreeing to serve. If you would like to contact any member of the committee, their contact information is:
Rob Gorman: rob.gorman@comcast.net 617-538-4948
